As much as I love summer and the long, hot days, it’s time to buckle down a bit. Too much sun, sand and chlorine and too little sleep takes a toll. My daily ice cream habit (among other treats) adds up too. I’d like to head into fall energized and refreshed, so I’m partnering with Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water and taking part in their #SparklingDetox and you’re invited to join me.
What’s Mineral Water?
I’d certainly heard of mineral water before but didn’t really know how it was different from spring water or the advantages of drinking it. Natural mineral water comes from an underground spring and is bottled in its pure form right at the source. Unlike conventional water, it has at least 250 mg of mineral content per liter. These minerals include calcium and magnesium among many others, which the body cannot make on its own. Magnesium supports the body’s energy metabolism and helps enhance the function of the muscles and nervous system. Calcium is important for healthy bones, muscles and teeth. Calcium is also important for metabolic function and works in tandem with magnesium. In fact, the ratio of these minerals needed for absorption by our bodies is identical to the ratio found in Gerolsteiner.
Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water originates in the Volcanic Eifel of Germany and has been bottled there for hundreds of years. It contains a perfect balance of calcium, magnesium and bicarbonate. The mineral content is high, yet the taste is refreshing and natural.
What’s the #SparklingDetox about?
The #SparklingDetox will take place September 12 – 16. During that time I’m ditching all my usual beverages and committing to drinking ONLY Gerolsteiner Mineral Water: 2.4 liters per day. No need to change what I eat or alter my workouts. The detox is suitable for everyone, regardless of fitness level. The #SparklingDetox will be guided by fitness trainer and nutritionist, Ariane Hundt, who will inspire us with daily tips via a group Facebook page. You’ll also find delicious meal and snack ideas as well as exercise recommendations to help make the most of the week.

I’m a big fan of sparkling water/seltzer water. I was never a huge soda drinker, but I love the different subtle flavors and ‘fizz’ of sparkling/seltzer water!

I am really looking forward to this. I’m a little concerned about giving up my coffee for a week, but also excited, if you can understand that. So ready for a detox!

I use my SodaStream to make sparkling water everyday, I find it more refreshing than plain water.

Ange I agree with you, so refreshing. The key here is the minerals. I can’t wait to see what drinking only mineral water does for my body.
