With that 4-letter “F” word (fall) just around the corner, now’s a great time to be more mindful about how you care for your body. With marathon training rapidly reaching its peak, I want to do everything I can to keep mine healthy, well fueled and energized. That’s why I’m taking part in the Gerolsteiner #SparklingDetox Challenge from September 12-16.
During that time, I’ll be trading my usual beverages for Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water because it has unique health properties I’ll tell you about in a sec. Here are some reasons to join me:
Hydration. Such a simple thing yet so often I come up short. During the detox, we’ll be aiming to drink a full 2.4 liters per day. Yes please!
Minerals. Here’s what sets Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water apart. It’s so much more than carbonated water. Face it, minerals are good, make that great, for the body, and the body cannot produce them on its own. Among many other minerals, each liter of Gerolsteiner contains:
- 35% of the recommended daily intake of Calcium, essential for healthy bones and teeth and supports the interaction between muscles and the nervous system.
- 25% of the recommended daily intake of Magnesium, which promotes healthy metabolism, supports muscles and nervous system function.
- 1,816 mg of Bicarbonate which regulates the acid-base balance and has a neutralizing effect on the stomach.
Group support: There’s a group Facebook page just waiting to welcome you. Find exercise tips, healthy recipes, peer support and more. I am SO there and I hope you join me!

It’s refreshing and delicious! During the #SparklingDetox Challenge, I’ll enjoy Gerolsteiner right out of the bottle, but for fun, and because I’m clinging to summer, I made a special drink.
Sparkling Strawberry Lemon-Limeade
This drink is fruity, delicious, so refreshing and easy to make too. I’d previously shied away from making fruity drinks due to their often high sugar content, but not here. A simple syrup made with Stevia is the key.
Sparkling Strawberry Lemon-Limeade | Print |
- 1C Strawberry puree
- ½C Fresh lemon juice (or lime, it's your drink)
- ½C Stevia simple syrup (recipe below)
- Zest of 1 lime
- 2C Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water
- Stevia Simple Syrup
- ½C Filtered water
- 1T Stevia
- Bring water to a boil, add Stevia and mix until fully dissolved. Chill.
- Whip up fresh strawberries in a blender until pureed. Add lemon juice, lime zest and mix until combined. Divide mixture among four glasses filled with ice. Top with Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water. Garnish with fresh fruit and enjoy! Makes 1 Qt.
Who’s joining me for the #SparklingDetox Challenge? What’s your favorite way to refresh?

interesting. I had no idea that Gerolsteiner was any different than all the other waters we have available here in the Netherlands (or even BENELUX). They have a comparison calculator on their website. I’m going to buy some and see in any case if I like it. Some sparkling waters are just a little too enthusiastically sparkly for me!

I had a chance to try this at Blogfest. I am not a huge sparkling water drinker but this was actually good mixes up the water monotany. This sounds yummy

Oh wow that Strawberry Lemon-Limeade does sound good and perfect on these very hot days! I’m curious to see how the detox goes. So do you have to drink just the water during that time?

I rarely drink mineral water. It makes me burp and feel bloated. But I would like to try it for some party drinks. 🙂
