July why do you fly so fast? Yes, time for another edition of Runfessions. The linkup where we share our sweatiest transgressions so we can start the new month fresh.
Ready? Let’s go!
You may have noticed in my weekly wrap posts that I’m still swimming. I could tell you I’m swimming because I’m eyeing another triathlon, but that would be only partially true. Remember when I told you about Jamie Dornan (ok his doppleganger, but still) sharing my lane? Well he’s been sharing my lane…sort of…on the regular. Is it my feminine wiles? Or does he know by now that I won’t swim more than 200 yards before I scamper away and he’ll have the lane to himself?
Jamie(we’re on a first name basis) isn’t the only one joining me in the lap lane lately. The other day I was lucky enough to score the end lane in the outdoor pool. I soon realized I wasn’t so lucky. A gaggle of gabbing women decided to sit along the edge of “my” lane, dangling their feet in “my” water. This may not have been so bad, but then a couple of them decided to actually stand IN my lane, hugging the edge of the pool while they yakked. Um yeah there’s at least 400 ft. of pool perimeter they could’ve sat/stood at without irritating the crap out of a certain lap swimmer. Said lap swimmer may have gotten “extra splashy” each time she swam past.
Ok one last swimfession before I move on. Sometimes when I take the kids to the pool, I want to swim a few laps but I also want to wear a “swankier” swimsuit than my all-business TYR. Consider this a public service announcement: Never swim laps in a one-strap swimsuit. Just. Don’t. Unless you want #boobout. Maybe this is what brought Jamie Dornan to my lane?
Not sure how it happened but I’ve fallen hook, line and sinker for this PokemonGo craze. Wouldn’t you know, running is the perfect time to play. The track seems to be a hotbed of rare Pokemon. I may be charging certain, shall we say “less active” people to run with their phones and incubate their eggs. Last weekend’s 15 miler was pretty lucrative…just saying.
Just when you thought it couldn’t get more weird…
The Caveman and I have been taking after-dinner walks on the prairie trails around our house. The other day (broad daylight) we were out there when I spotted a couple up ahead. On a blanket. Not in the high grass, but right out there in the open, mere inches from the trail, which is far from secluded. Forgive me Father, we should probably have turned back and scurried away, but we didn’t. It was like looking at an accident. You don’t want to but you just do. I suppose they were more embarrassed than we were. Let’s just say the term “trailhead” has taken on a new meaning.
Whew that was quite enough! Now you: What have you to runfess? Ever have a dysfunctional swimsuit? See some “wildlife” while you’re out and about?
MCM Mama Runs says
“Trailhead” Bwahahaha!
We don’t do PokemonGo, but maybe I should as my runs are getting longer now…
Kayla says
Trailhead…I am dying! I’ve been doing a little Pokemon as well but not a ton. I apparently used a ton of data last month and not sure what I used it all on lol so I haven’t had it open on my runs as much lately. Although I always make an extra loop past pokestop 🙂
Coco says
I’m resisting Pokemon Go but my kids are all into it. Gah on the trailhead activity!!
Megan @ Meg Go Run says
HAHAHAHHAHAAA!!! What the world needs now is love, sweet love….. !
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
Yikes! Just when you think it’s safe to walk outside in the evening….
Looks like we are having similar runfessions! LOL!
Susie @ Suzlyfe says
And hen you clinched it with the Trailhead story. I rode up in the elevator with our across the hall neighbors a few weeks ago. The day after Alex and I were walking down the hall to our unit and let’s just say someone was using THEIR unit. LOUDLY. And vocally.
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
Your runfessions always kill me! I would have been so annoyed by those ladies in your lane like that…but Jamie seems nice at least haha! Oh and trailhead…..oh boy!
Annmarie says
HAHAHA when I read “trailhead” in your title my mind immediately went there but I didn’t think that’s what you were actually talking about! Hilarious!
Jenn @ Run With Sole says
LOL!! The “trailhead” story is definitely a good one. Can’t say I’ve seen that on any of my trail runs. Thankfully.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Ewwww! I did have one trip back from Paris on my own (with NO movies, in the days before tablets and phones) and a couple next to me making out the whole way. But just making out, thankfully! It was still a long trip.
I actually had the ENTIRE pool to myself yesterday. Fro all 25 minutes of my swim! It was so glorious. I only have 3 more weeks to swim before the shut the pool down for 2 weeks of maintenance.
My runfessions will be coming at ya tomorrow!
HoHo Runs says
LOLOL…trailhead. Some people! If anything popped out while I was swimming, others would be fleeing the building. After you read my link, I need your advice on Tri clothes. Just sayin’. I think I may just try Pokémon on my long run this weekend. I’ll need all the distraction I can get. Thanks for the linkup!
Deborah @ Confessions of a mother runner says
Well if there was a hottie swimming next to me I would probably want to swim more too. 🙂 LOL on the one shoulder suit. I once tried to swim laps in a regular bikini it did not go well. lesson learned!
alexandra @ my urban family says
I love that you’re playing Pokemon Go. Me too. I feel like such a dork, but it’s so fun!
Ana says
Oh my god! That is really crazy! too funny on the couple!
yay for the Jamie Dorian’s of the world! even if they come over for some sideboob action.
Zenaida Arroyo says
No! Are you serious about seeing that couple? I would have been very embarrassed too.
No, Pokemon Go for me. My nephew plays it and now wants to tag along with me in the car when I go somewhere.
Elle says
LOVE reading your Runfessions! TRAILHEAD … gah!
Shandy Jo says
Oh my that does give a new meaning to “trailhead”. lol. Those ladies would have annoyed me too, I would have gotten extra splashy myself. I’ve never had a one shoulder swim suit, but then I usually swim in shorts and tank top. My phone won’t work with Pokemon Go, much to my kids disappointment.
Rachel says
OMG!!! BAHAHAHAHAHA!!! This is the best post ever, Marcia. #boobout and #trailhead will live on FOREVER! (And yes, I concur about #boobout. It’s no good!!)
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
This post absolutely cracked me up! I love your runfessions 🙂
Mary Beth Jackson says
Trailhead? OMG! That is hilarious! This was a definite needed funny spot to my day! thanks!
Lesley says
I wore running shorts over my bikini at the slip and slide party. I wasn’t worried about that top because that was in place, but I was slightly worried about the bottoms.
Michelle says
ah to be a fly on the wall watching you splash the yakkers, LOL!!!!
Laura Bowers says
Oh my gosh. Trailhead!!!! LOLOLOL!!!!! Nearly spit out my tea with that one. And I’ve yet to catch any Pokémon, although my son wants me to incubate his eggs … huh, never thought I’d type out that line! 😉
Thanks for putting this blog link-up together, and I hope to meet you at the Chicago Marathon!
Meranda @fairytales and fitness says
So looks like both you an Wendy have some “eye candy” at the pool! If that is the swim suit you have, it’s gorgeous!
Yikes on the “wildlife”. -M
Karen @ fit in France says
This was so funny. I laughed out loud and can relate to the swimfessions. LOL. While I ran Thursday so many people were out looking for Pokemons.
melissa cunningham says
oh my goodness, I’m dying!! “trailhead”!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
and girl, I have had wardrobe malfunctions with swim suits- while it has nothing to do with swimming,
during my first fitness competition I was doing pushups backstage to warm up before it was my turn to be on stage. Thank goodness the malfunction happened BEFORE I walked on. Some poor guy got en eyeful and told me I needed to readjust…….I was SO embarrassed!!!!!!
Karen says
LMAO things you can’t unsee right ?!
I have lost a top in the ocean and stood up before I realized it, haven’t we all? ? please say yes lol
Darlene says
Well, wait until you read my Friday Five this week for my odd sighting.
Yes, I have played Pokemon go – it’s addictive. I’ve only done it walking after my run. I’m afraid of the data that I will be using up.
Abby @BackatSquareZero says
Hahahaha trailhead…badabum
