This week’s Tuesdays on the Run topic is all about our favorite: Running gear and where to get it. Maybe you cut loose and splurge on a regular basis, maybe you wait and reward yourself with a new outfit (or 6) when you hit a running milestone, but chances are you’ve got some go-to brands you love and places you go to snag them.
Me? You don’t have to twist my arm to spring for new running gear. I’ll use any excuse to load up.
Running Gear & Race Ambassadorships
I’ve told you before I’m lucky enough to rep some great brands:
Spandits. SPANDITSLOVE saves you 10% off your first order and remember to subscribe to their newsletter cuz a little birdie told me there are often deals and discounts lurking in there. They’re also having a Mother’s Day sale right now until May 8 so you can save 20% on women’s and children’s styles.
Headsweats. This brand is a long time love of mine for running hats, headbands and visors. I rarely wear anything else. TEAMARCIA saves you 25%.
Races:ย I’m a proud member of team RocknBlog and you’ll find me at RnRCHI and RnRDUB this summer.
Espirit de She Race Series:ย Codeย GEDS16AMB027 saves you $5 off any Espirit de She event anywhere.ย
Running Gear Shopping
Let’s tell it like it is. I loathe paying full price. Don’t we all? Now that that’s out of the way, here are some places I love:
Running Warehouse: Big selection, often the lowest prices around, free 2-day shipping and free returns. What’s not to love? Plus here’s an additional discount for you because I’m sweet like that: runblog10 saves you 10%. Boom!
Dick’s Sporting Goods. I love that they have so much in stock I can go and try on. I especially love their Nike and Under Armour stuff AND that I can grab stuff for the kids in the same trip. yay for coupons and their Scorecard loyalty program nets me some cashback time and again. Wooot!
Athleta: I adore Athleta, really I do. For some reason though, I have better luck and am more drawn in by their catalog than I am their retail stores.
Lululemon: As much as I love me some Lulu, I loathe the $$$ price tags. That’s not to say I don’t treat myself from time to time. I may scope out the “we made too much” section of their website once in awhile. Buyer beware: that stuff is final sale.
Shop Locally:
There are a few local running stores I absolutely love, mostly for their personalized service and expertise with track shoe and spike fittings, as well as their role in the running/racing community. Online resources and chains are great but local running stores offer a level of service that is above and beyond the others. That is something I am happy to pay for.
What are your favorite hot spots to shop for running gear? Where do you score the best deals?
Emily @ Out and About says
I am a HUGE fan of Running Warehouse, too! Thanks for sharing the discount code – does it work on all items, or is it just good on sale items? Dick’s Sporting Goods is surprisingly impressive, too. I was there over the weekend (they are the marquis sponsor for the Pittsburgh Marathon) and it was rack after rack after rack of BEAUTIFUL workout gear. Athleta’s merchandise is fabulous!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
We all know how much I love shopping for just about anything.
One place no one seems to know about but me is Active Gearup (I think that’s what it’s called). Don’t have the link handy, you’ll have to google it.
But they have great sales on great gear. I don’t order from them often, and their daily deals can sell out quickly, but that’s how I got a pair of Newton Miotions which normally retail for $175 for $50 (plus shipping). And the shipping is fast!
Angela @marathonsandmotivation.com says
Thanks for sharing all the great discount codes! I am not a big regular clothes shopper, but I LOVE shopping for running & triathlon gear and clothes!! I am a long time Athleta fan for their running clothes, even though they are on the pricey end, I find it worth it as they have a great return policy and their clothes last. Thanks for hosting the great link-up!! I shared a recap of my past week or training. Next week, I will try and get in the groove with your un themes ๐
Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine says
I always check Running Warehouse when I need running shoes or clothes! They always have sales and coupon codes and free shipping. Sometimes I get lucky with amazon too, especially if there is something specific that I know I like. I have a few items from Lululemon but I hate spending so much on workout gear.
Alison says
Thanks for sharing, I learned some new places to look like spandits and running warehouse. I can’t believe I haven’t heard of that before! I’m a huge fan of Dick’s Sporting Goods. Mine typically has several racks of clearance items and I’ve been able to get some great capris and tights super discounted!
lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
So many great discounts. I finally got my first headsweats visor the other wk. I found it at a local store w a huge discount so I had to buy it. It did not disappoint.
jill conyers says
Athleta. That’s pretty much the only place I shop for running and yoga clothes. They have a great fit pro discount.
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
I’m a stealth TJMaxx and Marshall’s shopper. You never know what you’ll find there. I’ve scored some Asics leggings and capris…and there was that Boston Marathon jacket…
Erica @ Erica Finds says
Sierra Trading Post has great deals on last season’s items! I agree with Wendy on TJs and Marshalls, too! Another tip, always use ebates or Active Junky for rebates!
Becky @ Ok, So Here's the Plan says
I have had luck with Shoekicker lately – if you have a specific shoe you’re looking for it’s a super quick way to find the best price. You can even set up price alerts for specific shoes so you get an email if the price drops.
If I had unlimited $ I would live and workout in all things Athleta – I love them, I just can’t always afford it! I don’t think I’ve been to one of their stores more than once, I’m mostly a catalog/online shopper.
Megan @ Meg Go Run says
I love Running Warehouse! That is where I get all my shoes for 50% off. I used to use Holabird Sports but Running Warehouse seems to have better colors of my shoe and always has them on sale whereas at Holabird you had to keep checking around.
I don’t buy a whole lot of running clothes. I feel like I have enough right now, but what was key was me buying a bunch of running shorts… I think maybe at the beginning of the summer? They are so comfy and have the underwear lining I like. They were from walmart and they were $5.99!! I bought about 6 pair and then went back to weeks later for 4 more pair. I am SET.
Kimberly G says
I love running warehouse! I’m also planning on going to Sports Authority this weekend since they have filed bankruptcy and I’ve heard they have some awesome sales right now.
Michelle @ LivelyChicken says
I’ve never heard of Running Warehouse but will definitely be checking it out ASAP! I hate spending a ton of money on running clothes but love window shopping at Athleta!! I try to only buy new stuff when I hit a milestone or really need something. And when I’m honest with myself, it’s rare that I really need new running clothes. I just have so many already!
Lesley says
I love Running Warehouse. I normally go there first if I’m trying to find a good deal on the shoes I wear. It doesn’t hurt to check, even if the shoes are full price, and free shipping is always nice.
Smitha @ Running with SD Mom says
You know I love my Spandits! I do love my local running store. Such a great resource for gear and knowledge. I do buy shoes when they go super cheap on line but nothing beats the expertise at a small running shop!
Jenn @ RunWithSole says
OOH! I had no idea Lululemon had a “made too much section” on their website. I don’t really shop there much because of the $$. I will check that out and thanks for sharing all of your codes!!
Sonia says
I like Running Warehouse too! ๐ I’ve been eyeing the Athleta catalog lately as well…
vicki says
I really like Spandits! and came across the Mother’s Day sale and had to stock up a little on shorts for summer running! I signed up for their newsletter so I don’t miss another sale.
Jessica S says
I love the Athleta catalog – so gorgeous! I agree, I tend to like their catalog options better than what is in the store too. Thanks for the Running Warehouse discount code!
Pam says
I am going to confess that I am a Lululemon girl. When I started running it was all C9 from Target because I was only running one race and did not want to waste money. Now that I spend alot of time in athletic wear, I really like the Lulu cut and fit. I’ve still got other pieces in my closet, but usually I shop at my local running store for shoes and other stuff.
Tamieka says
Awesome!!!
I love a sale!!
I too stalk the We made too much…..I love their clothes but the prices…yikes!!
As a member of the Luna Chix, I have the pro card to Athleta so I suppose I will be frequenting there soon….I have never shopped there before. I think their prices are a bit high as well and their sales aren’t that great ;(
I need to check out running warehouse….thanks for the extra code ๐
Holly@pink-runner.com says
I like going to an actual Lulu store and hitting their sale rack. I get an extra 15% off as a group fitness instructor. I’ve gotten tights for $20-30 that way ๐
Ana says
I’ll have to check out some of this places ! especially if I can score those awesome skull leggings you are wearing in the picture! Thanks for sharing!
Elle says
I am soooo lucky to have been working with Tommie Copper for the past several years and they keep me pretty well stocked.
I don’t do lululemon so don’t have to worry about those $$$$ but I do like to shop for gear and shoes when I manage to get to the U.S. Yes, Dick’s for sure and also hit up the factory outlets like NIKE, REEBOK and have also snagged some great ASICS tennis shoes, too.
Savannah says
Thanks for the running warehouse code – its one of favorite places!
alexandra @ my urban family says
I have no idea if these are everywhere, but many of the Sports Authority locations are going out of business. Last I checked, everything was an extra 40% off beyond initial markdowns ๐
Sharon says
Love Headsweats! I was thinking about getting a new hat, so thanks for the code! ๐
Rachel says
I loathe paying full price, too. This stuff is expensive!! I try to stay local when possible but sometimes I just can’t afford to!
Patty says
Discounted. YAAAASSSS. I love finding a GREAT deal, but will settle for a good one. I rarely buy full price either!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
I don’t do a ton of shopping for running gear – I had the VIP membership at Road Runner Sports but I’m thinking of not renewing, just because I don’t use it enough to justify it! I used to use the Active Advantage to get deals on gear, and National Running Center is pretty good too!
Jessie @ The Acquired Sass says
I usually shop at Dick’s or TJ Maxx. I like Dick’s since I always know what brands I will find. TJ Maxx is a gamble. And then anything non-running. usually I find at REI outlet website. Occasionally they’ll have great end of season sales on the pricey bras I run in. I stock up when I see those since I can usually get my order shipped to store for free & have a coupon code lying around somewhere.
Mary Beth Jackson says
I do love the clearance racks and Dick’s and you never know what you will find at TJMaxx but it worth a look. I always look at the sales at Athleta too- especially the SPF 50 stuff, it ain’t cheap!
Amanda McWhinney says
Outlets are my go-tos! I love the Under Armour and Nike outlets, those are probably my favorite. And I love how Dick’s has the loyalty program and they send out coupons pretty regularly too which is nice!
LaChicaRuns says
I’m partial to Skirt Sports gear. It’s good quality and holds up great, even after multiple washings every single week. I do represent the company as an ambassador; you can use my code LCR20 for 20 percent off.
MCM Mama Runs says
Athleta is my go to place for casual clothes and bathing suits but mostly because I can use my GAP rewards there LOL. Thankfully, Lululemon has never really done much for me…
CARLA says
