T’was another crazy week. Before we get to that, here’s how the workouts went:
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: Yoga/corework
Wednesday: Run 6 miles 6x400m intervals
Thursday: Swim & Bike
Friday: Pliyo intervals
Saturday: Run 6 miles
Sunday: Strength & Swim
I shortened my weekend long run the slightest bit to give my ornery post tib. tendon a chance to rest a little. The last thing I want is for that to blow up into in “issue”. I also decided I’m going to join the tri group I trained with last year for open water swims. My swims have left much to be desired and I hadn’t even thought about how I’d practice in open water. When my old tri coach invited me to join them, I jumped on it.
On the homefront it was another single parenting week with plenty of mom taxi duty: Track practice, Girl Scouts, parties, you name it. Exhausting.
Goodness:
I wish I could have lounged around reading and sipping all day, alas it was too busy of a weekend for that.ย
- The weather is divine. The outdoor yoga den and deck furniture are open for business!
- I got some yardwork done and seeds planted. Go me.
- The kids did an outgrown clothes purge, which is always awesome.
- Sunday’s strength workout was a freaking killer. I’m going to be sore, but I needed it.
Badness:
One of the dogs got into Thing 1’s track bag and had his way with some Quest bars. Let’s just say it’s been explosive around there. I’m hoping the wrappers have all passed by now and he will not need medical intervention. Ugh. Dogs.
Deliciousness:
Our local frozen custard place is open for the season and I won’t even tell you how many times we’ve visited already. So good!
OMG have you tried these Ginger Chunk cookies from Trader Joe’s? I’m not a huge ginger fan (give me chocolate chip any day) but these are amazing!
Congrats to Wendy, Kristina, Carly and everybody who rocked Big Sur this weekend and to Pam, Smitha, Jeff and everyone who rocked the London Marathon! I had so much fun tracking!
How was your week? Did you race? Get outside?
I’m linking up with Holly and Tricia for the weekly wrap. Join us!
Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine says
We have been having amazing weather here too- let’s hope it sticks around! Nice job getting in all your workouts along with single-mom duties! I need to look out for those cookies next time I’m in TJ’s.
Megan @ Meg Go Run says
Despite your weekend being busy, it was still productive! You reminded me that I need to get my shit together as far as my garden is concerned….
Carla says
Ahhhh that outgrown clothes purge.
I had that on my list for the weekend. I blew it off. I might because I knew it would then add to this weeks list in the form:
Find a place to donate clothing. Someplace truly in need.
It is officially added to next weekend list.

My weekend was productive, but exhausting. Prom “set construction” on Friday night. Long hilly run Saturday morning. Prom stuff Saturday night (and we didn’t even have a kid attending). Long power walk on Sunday, followed by several hours of killer garden work. Last night, I slept like I was in a coma, though. Glass half full ๐

Sorry I had to giggle…just yesterday my dog got a hold of some gum wrappers, and needless to say he was pooping them out last night. EWWWWW!
Raina says
Omgosh.. That sounds like a pet nightmare! That alone would exhaust me…
Congrats on getting the garden going. That’ll pay off!
alexandra @ my urban family says
Oooo, those cookies look good! And the weather is amazing! <3
Lesley says
Oh that poor dog, and poor you! I did laugh a little, sorry. That’s one advantage of having a cat. She won’t go after anything in wrappers. Unless it’s cat nip.
Sarah @ BucketListTummy says
I love doing yoga outside – it’s so freeing and exhilerating! Those ginger snap cookies look super addictive ๐
HoHo Runs says
Ooh…I love ginger. We don’t have a Trader Joe’s. Can you believe that? ๐ I finally got out and worked in my embarrassing yard this weekend. I really haven’t scratched the surface with it. The pool is ready though — just waiting on the water temp! I hope your post tib tendon calms the heck down. Ain’t nobody got time for “issues’. Got to love dogs and their shenanigans. Thanks for linking Marcia!

Hope you ankle heals quickly.
My cat’s name is Slater No. Because he always doing something bad.
Most recently knocked over a vase of flowers …twice!!!

Nice week! Yikes, sorry to hear about the Quest bars. I’ve been pretty bad on the ice cream front too! I’m also a chocolate chip cookie kind of gal but you have me intrigued on those ginger cookies. Will have to check them out the next time I’m at Trader Joe’s!
Ana says
Oh my god, you reminded me that I did an outgrowth purge and left it all in the floor, because I needed to get the boy in his PJs and to bed… will need to clean that up when I get home!
I hope your doggy is feeling better!
Tricia Vaughn says
That’s great your going to start doing the swims with your peeps. I know for me it just helps that I get out there and be accountable to someone.
Ha love the term clothes purge! I need to do this so bad! Why do we continue to hold on to pieces we haven’t worn in 5 years! My closet is not full of these timeless pieces in the least!
Oh no on the dog, I’m sorry but I did have to laugh a little, only because one of mine did the same thing a week or so ago. Poor thing I think more came out than went in. Thankfully it was on the kitchen floor! We’ve also had some beautiful weather! If it will only stay this way and not reach in the upper 90’s!!!
Char says
Why is cleaning out the closets such a cathartic process? I used to love going through the kids wardrobes and sorting out what fitted and what didn’t. It was a physical reminder that they were growing up – bittersweet. Plus it always made it easier to shut closet doors and dresser drawers.
Emily @ Out and About says
Yikes on the dog getting into the Quest Bar supply! I can only imagine the damage and I really sympathize! I LOVE cleaning out the closet and donating clothing I don’t use anymore. It feels so freeing to get rid of excess clutter! OMG – what is this local frozen custard place you speak of? I’m always on the look out for good custard joints so please share!!!
Pete B says
Thanks for the tip on the ginger cookies! Sounds yummy. I also love their real butterscotch cookies imported from Scotland. Heavenly!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Oh no your poor dog… and really, poor you! Sounds like a great plan to join your tri group for those OWS – hopefully it will help you get in the swim groove. I started the clothes purge with my boys too, and hopefully will finish this week – very cathartic!
Thelma says
I spy a TC momento!!! *sigh*
Miss you!!
Coco says
Oh dear on the Quest bars. Once my beagle got into a whole bag of rawhide chews. The resulting fumes were toxic! Those cookies look good. My husband doesn’t like ginger so I wouldn’t have to worry about him eating them all!
Jody - Fit at 58 says
OMG on the Quest bars! The y make me poop too so – YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :O
OK, I will be searching out those cookies on the next TJs trip!!!!
Mary Beth Jackson says
Hot weather is coming! It is so time to finish the gardening and sit back and watch things bloom! I am kind of laughing about the dog though, sorry! I hope the worst has passed! hehe
Karen @ Fit in France says
Wow, crazy busy week for you ! But you got so much accomplished, I would be proud of getting so much done. Yeah for nice days !
