This week’s Tuesdays on the Run topic has a, shall we say, split personality. If you shared your spring race plans last week we’re sharing scenes from where we run. Since I shared scenes from my run last week, (and my spring race plans were high up in the air) I’m throwing down some races today. Remember any post about running is perfect to link up so no pressure on specific topics.
Since I last spoke about race plans this happened:
Which is kind of a whole new world (cue the music). Well it would be if I had my own jet, but I don’t so there’s that.
Typically I don’t do a whole lot of (ok any) racing in January and February because, truth be told, the weather here is a total crap shoot. It can be 40 and sunny one day with a blizzard the next. I’ve had too many flights cancelled due to weather to make winter race plans. Plus my endurance right now is at about 10k distance on a good day. Let’s start with March.
Spring Races
March 12-13. Pie in the sky: I’ll find a cheap flight and a hotel and run RnRDC. I looooved the Marine Corps Marathon so going back to run among the monuments again would be fab. Plus I failed to pickup a Starbucks mug last time = unfinished business. I have my priorities.
Realistic: I’ll stay home and run a local St. Patty’s Day 5k. There’s a pint glass so not all bad.
April 3: Pie in the sky: Running gods willing, the RnR Carlsbad 5000, depending again on hotel and flights out. I’ll be in California winding up spring break in LA so it’s not totally unreasonable to drive down to Carlsbad.
May 15: Realistic: Chicagoland Half Marathon.
June 12:ย For sure: Espirit de She Triathlon. Yeah that elephant in the room. I loved it so much last year, I’m back for more…or something like that. If you care to join me at the tri or any Espirit de She race around the country use codeย GEDS16AMB027 to save $5.ย
That’s how the schedule looks so far. As always, it’s a work in progress. What do you have on tap this spring? Will I see you at any of these races?

If you find a cheap flight, you can stay with me! I’m running and probably going to get the VIP status for parking.
Karen @ Fit in France says
I would love to run in DC one day, there seems to be so many great races there. However, I won’t see you at any of the ones you want to do ! I have to come to the US briefly in March but besides that no other US plans. So no US races. I would love to do the RnR Vegas one day.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Even though it can be hard sometimes, getting away in winter is so lovely! Even if you get sick when you get back.
Like I keep saying, you don’t have to swim fast . . . when it warms up I look forward to swimming again!

I’ve only signed up for one spring race: the Gazelle Girl Half in Grand Rapids, Mich., this April. I want to do at least one more race but haven’t decided which one. I don’t travel to races (yet) so it’s gotta be local.
My dream is to plan a run-cation next spring. With a kid in college and one going soon, that’s unlikely. But a girl can dream, no?
Tamieka says
Yeah! ! I may just have to come down and cheer for RnR DC!!!! I am still on the fence about running it because of the terrible weather last year. We will see.
Sonia says
Congrats on the RocknBlog! Looks like some fun races planned. I’d love to run in DC again someday…that’s my pie in the sky.
Michelle @ LivelyChicken says
I hope you make it to RnRDC and/or RnR Carlsbad 5000! But it’s nice to have local race options as a back up. I haven’t traveled for a race yet, but it’s definitely something I want to do soon. I’m still debating whether or not to sign up for any spring races. Last year I did a Superhero Half Marathon which was a lot of fun. It isn’t until May so luckily I still have some time to decide if I want to run it again.
Megan @ Meg Go Run says
I was going to do a trail race this past weekend but reports said the trails were practically STREAMS from this daggone melting snow. There is a 10 miler I’m looking at for the beginning of April, but I am a commitmentphobe and like to wait until the last minute to sign up for stuff. ๐
Smitha @ Running with SD Mom says
Umm if you do Carlsbad, you can come stay with me as long as you promise we can coordinate Spandits! ๐
Lesley says
Carlsbad is much closer to San Diego than LA. If you can’t find good flights from LA, try San Diego. At least then you’d have a much shorter distance to drive after the race.
Laura@Fit Running Mama says
I’ll be at the Chicagoland 1/2 Marathon! I wish I could get on a plane and go somewhere to run– one day when the kids are older ๐
lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
Congrats on becoming a Rock n Blogger. We did that last year and I only went to two of the three races we are abe to. And my sister didn’t go to any. So we didn’t apply this year. So more people would have a chance that would be able to use all three. Have fun deciding which ones you want to run! Always a tough choice!
Michelle says
Sounds like a lot of fun races! My cousin lives in Carlsbad, although I’ve never been there myself I’ve heard it’s beautiful! Have fun!
Mary Beth Jackson says
So many races so little time!!! those are great choices, not on my list for spring but great choices!
Char says
I hope you find that cheap flight to DC – you really need that Starbucks mug. Perfect opportunity!
alexandra @ my urban family says
I’m so excited that spring is finally coming up! You have so many races planned it seems! But yay, bring on spring!
Rachel says
I so want to run RNRDC but I already registered for a local race the same weekend! Boo hoo. Sounds like you have some great plans come spring!
Emily says
Wow, I really hope you can do RNRDC. I would love to do the RNR in Colorado, but it’s always on a Sunday, I think. ๐
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
I don’t know about that May half. I’d love to do it with you. Let’s see how Big Sur goes. I could always jump in at the last minute, right?
Jessica S says
I hope you get at least some of those pie in the sky races!
Debbie @ Coach Debbie Runs says
I’d love to see you in Carlsbad! I’ll be doing that and RNR San Diego in June. Not quite sure for the rest of the year, though I’d love to do Chicago or Savannah. I’m so excited to be part of the team with you!
Christine @ Two Runners Travel says
Have fun as a Rock ‘n’ Blogger! We did that the last 2 years and it’s a great experience! You’ll love working with Ashley. ๐ Rock ‘n’ Roll DC is a good race but honestly, the course isn’t that great. You don’t go through the really scenic sections of DC like you do in some other races. So just keep that in mind if you’re comparing it to MCM. Best of luck with your spring races!
Sue @ This Mama Runs for Cupcakes says
COME TO DC!!!!!
Karen says
I am already signed up for races I am going to have to miss. I have a feeling I won’t be racing for awhile ๐ I need to try to go slow though when I do start running, I really jump back and push, but that probably isn’t going to serve me well.
CA sounds great if you are already there!
HoHo Runs says
Carlsbad would be very pretty but it would also be cool to see all the monuments in DC. Decisions, decisions! Can you order those Starbucks city mugs online? Just curious.
