Has it been a crazy week or what? Who’s ready to kiss February goodbye? Although our winter hasn’t really been that bad, I’m more than ready for spring. Here’s how the week’s workouts went:
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: 4.5 miles
Wednesday: 70 min. evolution cycle, 30 minute swim
Thursday: Yoga
Friday: 5 mile progression run
Saturday: 10 miles
Sunday: Strength training
A decent week workout wise, although I still wasn’t feeling 100% the first day or 2. I was grateful for a rest day Monday and traded Tuesday’s speedwork for something more tame. It was another single parenting week. Not my favorite, but it is what it is.
We were promised a blizzard, and I got all ready for it in my new thermal Vivacity Spandits (aren’t they cute? If you order, SPANDITSLOVE saves you 10%), alas we got nothing more than a dusting. Talk about disappointing.
If we can’t have deep, glorious snow, (knock wood, we’ve had zero snow days) then I’m officially ready for spring. Enough of this raw, grey blah. I did see my first robin of the year on Friday so spring can’t be too far off.
Thing 1 made it through another week of track practice, and I of being her sherpa. She’s been asking for fettuccine alfredo lately. I’d never made it before because the mere thought of all that butter, cream and cheese makes me gain 20 lbs. Friday night, I finally indugled her.
It was decadent but so tasty. I stuffed it with a bunch of veggies and topped it with a little grilled chicken so it wasn’t a total fat bomb, but still. Not something I’m going to add to the dinner rotation any time soon.
Saturday was much nicer. I got out for a 10 miler, which felt pretty huge, since that’s the most I’ve run since Rock n Roll Vegas last November. Whaddya know the SUN was out for once! Temps were in the high 20’s when I got out but they climbed into the mid-50’s. I’ll take it!
I’m linking up with Holly and Tricia (who are off running their hearts out at RnRNOLA, color me jelly) for the Weekly Wrap.
What was fun for you this week? Did you race? Alfredo: yay or nay? Did you enter my giveaway?
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I think our winter has been even milder than yours, but I’m with you, it’s time for spring. Although we had our first robin spotting a while ago. No snow to mention, but we’ve had a weekly sleet storm, it seems.
There are a ton of recipes for healthy alfredo. Some better than others. I rarely eat pasta at all, but my runs are getting a little longer too (although not up to double digits yet), so I indulged in some garlic bread saturday. Why can’t bread be a healthy thing?
Megan @ Meg Go Run says
You know I have never been a huge fetuccini alfredo fan! I don’t know why. I mean, I love noodles and cheese and butter but I think I am more of a red sauce type of person. You really have me hungry or some italian food now though!
I am also looking forward to winter being over! Really, we just have march to get through yet. March can be such a long month.
Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine says
I am ready for spring too. I wouldn’t have minded a couple more snow days in February, but now I am ready to move on to warmer weather. It’s 65 here today and sunny! But such a tease because I think its supposed to get cold again later this week.
Abby @ BackAtSquareZero says
I was in Chicago (well a suburb) over Christmas visiting the bfs family and saw people running by in an ice storm. That is a level of bad ass I will never be. I don’t know how you awesome Chi-Town people do it. I would be over winter by now too.
Char says
I’m ready for you to have Spring too because that’ll mean Autumn over here. So sick of the humidity! We had a brief reprieve for a week before it slogged us again and I’m just about ready to send a rudely worded letter to the weather gods to tell them that they’re not playing nice. I’ve got my first half for the year in just two weeks and I don’t want to be running a race in this kind of weather.
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
I have a pair of YakTrax I need to review, so natch I was a little underwhelmed by our snow. Looks like I have another chance this week. I have mixed feelings about it, but a commitment is a commitment, right? The things we do for the blog…
I LOVE those tights.
Heather says
Winter has been crazy. 60s this weekend, and supposed to dump a foot of snow on us tomorrow night. Go figure.
Great job on your 10, I wanted that this weekend and have been so sick I got 3. But hey, it was still gorgeous!
That alfredo looks decadently yummy. You can lighten it up with a pureed cauliflower base – still tastes amazing but zaps a lot of the superfluous calories that don’t add to taste.
Kelli says
Meeee! I’m ready for winter to be over too! That fettuccini alfredo looks fabulous! Good to get the veggies in, too!
Karen says
I am ready for some day light ๐ but not the heat! Although, with as was wet as it has been March should makes some pretty blooms…
I love your new leggings. It has been that long since you ran double digits?
Your fettuccine looks so yummyyyy! I have not had in a long time because of all the reasons you mentioned lol I love all pasta so much.
Nicole says
I am so ready for winter to be over too. In all honesty, here in NJ it really has not been all that bad
Gina Hanzel says
I just LOVE that last sky picture! Can you make fettuchini for me?
Coco says
I am tired of being COLD! Today it got into the 60s, but it will still be in the 30s when I walk the dog in the morning. I love those tights! I bought a ton of new tights this year but feel like I haven’t been able to wear them since I always choose my warmest pair!
Phaedra @ Blisters and Black Toenails says
Ohhh alfredo sauce. I love it but it doesn’t love me so I don’t indulge often. I LOVE LOVE LOVE those tights!!! I’ll be happy to see the end of February as well. As far as winters go, this one hasn’t been too bad, but much like your winter, it’s been GREY and I’m so over that!!!
Michelle @ Run4Life says
I am so ready to be done with winter too! It has been unseasonably warm here in Massachusetts these past few weeks, which makes me nervous that we will have snow again before this winter is done!
Kim Hatting says
I am so over with winter, too. February has been such a roller coaster of temps…warm, then freezing cold, then rain, wind, warm (again), cold…totally a crap-shoot on what to wear because it changes every day. I’m headed to Florida Tuesday for the rest of the week…..hoping the last of winter comes and leaves before we return ๐
Sherry says
Great job on your 10 miler! The weather hasn’t been too cold here but I’m ready for spring. Those Spandits are cute!
Pam says
I know this winter has been milder for some, but in NC, we have had lots of cold days where you don’t feel like getting outside. This week is supposed to be nice, so I am planning to be outside as much as possible. Your fettucine alfredo looks yummy, I really should stop reading blog posts when I am hungry.
Sarah @ BucketListTummy says
That is a beautiful picture of the sunrise over the freeze! Here in NC, last week was really warm so it made me think spring is here for good! I think we have some colder temps coming late this week, but nothing like yours. I’m definitely ready for spring for good!
Lesley says
I am so ready for March. I’ll get vacation, DST, and spring. Yes please. It has been a mild winter so far (knock on wood), and the trees are budding and leafing out already. I hope we do move in to spring so they don’t get a cold shock.
Lindsey says
We have had a relatively mild winter for KS…and I am glad that it is on its way out! Starting the day with a 20-30 degree run…and then I feel like I HAVE TO get out for a 60-70 degree run over lunch. How could I pass it up?!
Mary Beth Jackson says
I think we are all ready for spring! We go from highs in the high 70’s to a high of 50! Gotta love it! Love that 10 mile pic- glad I wasn’t the only one getting my 10 miles in ๐
Sonia says
I’m so jealous of the scenery around you! I need to find some prettier spots to run…and run in the daylight. ๐
Kate says
The weather, it’s crazy. I had a snow day Wednesday but spent the weekends around it in shorts. So weird.
Shannon says
Beautiful picture on the bottom! I agree with you- I am over winter by like, january, lol. I feel lucky that we have had a really mild winter, though!
Sharon says
Love your Spandits! Sounds like a good week of training! Great job on your 10miler! I missed mine this weekend with Hubby away for work as well. Hoping to get in some sort of long run tomorrow!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Oh yes I’m so done with winter – it has been mild, but I’m still over it.
I love your Spandits – so fun!
HoHo Runs says
Hooray for a 10 miler — and that is a beautiful picture. I make Fettuccine Alfredo with sauce from a jar (ahem). Yours looks much healthier. I love the pattern on those Spandits. It’s about this time every year we skip from winter to summer. I”m not ready. I didn’t get enough cool weather running. Thanks for linking with us Marcia!
Tricia @ MissSippipiddlin says
Now that is hardcore, when you’re disappointed you didn’t get a blizzard, wait you just wanted to wear your new duds! I get it!!! ๐ They are fabulous looking! Yes, thanks for the shout out, Holly and I were having a great time in New Orleans. It was beautiful outside today here and I’m playing catch up from missing work Friday! I need a vacation from my vacation! Thanks Marcia for linking with us! ๐
Karen @ Fit in France says
Nay to Alfredo. I don’t like pasta with creamy sauces ! It has turned cold here this week, 35 degrees and windy. Boo.
Thelma says
I’m ready to move in with Mary, Running Green Girl, any day now! It was so hard to leave LA!!!!!!!!!!!! Aside from that piece of shit race….
Carly @ Fine Fit Day says
This winter has been so mild and I am still so over it. More than ready for warm weather!! I got the floral thermal Spandits and now I’m thinking I may need these too – the pattern looks so cool on! I do fettuccine Alfredo with an avocado based sauce instead of butter and cream! It does give it a slightly green tinge, but it tastes just as creamy delicious!
