I can’t lie: My Caveman is preposterously difficult to shop for. He’s very particular about…well everything…and won’t hesitate to tell me to take something back if it doesn’t meet his standards.
Now that it’s the running “off-season”, I’ve been joining him in the gym every weekend for some strength training. If you’re a long-time reader, you know that back in the stone age when we were dating, he challenged me to a bench-press contest. Having never lifted more than a 5 lbs princess dumbbell, I hired the most muscle-bound trainer I could find and busted my tail for 6 weeks. Showdown day came and, despite me putting up an impressive (so I thought) weight, the Caveman beat me handily and we were married later that year. 17+ years later, we still enjoy our time together in the gym.
Recently I noticed his workout wear…shall we say…left something to be desired. It was tired and dingy and ill fitting.
After some masterful cajoling on my part, I got him to hit up Dick’s Sporting Goods® with me for a little workout wear refresh. In his “civilian” life (that’s code for when he’s not working out), the Caveman loves Ralph Lauren’s Polo brand. Did you know that select Dick’s locations now carry Polo Sport®? Well they do. It’s Ralph Lauren’s new collection of activewear exclusively for men.
The Polo collection is extensive: Shirts, pants, shorts, jackets, hats, accessories, even duffle bags. The Caveman was drawn to the classic lines and colors…
…and the iconic Polo logo.
I appreciated the modern twists and fun, fresh colors. The top quality, sweat-wicking fabrics are perfect for handling tough workouts.
The collection is cut with muscular guys in mind. Caveman loved the fit of every single piece he tried. I loved the lime.
You already know orange is my good mojo color.
Whether your guy is into weight training, running, biking or another sport, the Polo collection features pieces that will have him going from sport to street looking and feeling great.
The true test came when the Caveman wore it for a workout in the pain cave. Polo Sport passed easily with flying colors.
Is your guy hard to shop for? What are you getting him this year?
I’m linking up for Fit & Fashionable Friday.

My husband is impossible to pick out gifts for. He wants very little and what he does want he buys. He should be like me. It’s super easy to know what I want 🙂

I love that you got the Caveman to play along!! So cute – what a great model and the gear looks great. My husband is easy to buy for – all tools all the time!

My guy is next to impossible (and he doesn’t work out, so he doesn’t need workout clothes).
I got him a very nice bowl for pistachios in the hopes that I’ll no longer find pistachio crumbs all over the computer. Tech gloves, which apparently I got him last year & he never wore them but he seemed to actually like these. I really hate getting him stuff he doesn’t use! A very cute mug (which he finally took into work & everyone liked — basically said I’m an engineer misspelled several ways and crossed out & then “I’m good with numbers”. Mixed nuts (in the shell).
Food always works for him, but it’s hard, because frankly he could stand to lose some weight.

What a great post idea! Although, getting my “caveman” to pose for pics would take some coaxing and bribery (ahem). Yes, the husband is perfectly content in the no-show stuff (from several years ago), so I took him shopping (briefly) last year and got him a few things at Old Navy. The baggy guy shorts just weren’t cutting it, and I was able to persuade him to get some running tights (but I called them “fitted running sweats”….you do what you gotta do and say what you gotta say). A few 1/4 zip long-sleeve tech shirts and some modern shorts, and we were good. He doesn’t run as much as I do (prefers spinning), but he still “needs” the gear (in my opinion LOL).

The Caveman is such a great fashion model! This is really good information since Adam’s workout clothes are well-worn, and he loves the Polo brand. Note to self!!!

OMG he is a GOOD sport!! Rich doesn’t care too much about his workout clothes- but i’ve bought him a lulu shirt and he does love it. he’s more considered about finding a deal 🙂 I did get him some workout underwear that a store in birmingham told me was the best thing since sliced bread. his big gifts are more practical- luggage, sports coat, sweater and I may grab him another pair of swim trunks bc he says the chlorine has eaten holes in his other ones!?!? (what is this stuff doing to yalls bodies!?!)

My husband is also a fan of Ralph Lauren – I bet he’d love these pieces. And his workout wear could definitely use an overhaul 😉

Great idea to feature a collection for him! I love reading about new products and especially workout clothes for myself, but had yet to find one for my man. I’ll be asking him to take a look at these 🙂
