It’s race week, dontcha know. Many very important things I am passionate about right now:
Not running. I’ve got a 3-mile whopper tomorrow and that’s all she wrote. I had to really exercise some restraint not to run or ride my bike today as it’s gorgeous here. But windy. Heaven forbid I exhaust myself.
Road snack acquisition. The peanut butter stuffed pretzels are in the house. So are the pumpkin bagels and cranberry/pumpkin seed pita crisps. It’s all good.
Hydrating like a boss. Time to get all electrolyte-a-fied. Invigorade sent me a bunch of this. I won’t be racing with it, because you know, nothing new on race day but it’s fair game this week so stay tuned.
Staying off my feet. Laying around watching Breaking Bad. Pretty sure I’m the last soul on the planet who hasn’t seen it.
Rounding up the gear. It takes a freaking village.
Stalking the weather. Channeling perfection on that front for once!
In other news, because surprise! It’s not ALL about me, Chicago Marathoners this is for YOU! Find me over on Periscope where I’m spilling my Chicago Marathon course tips and tricks to make this one your best ever. But hurry those Periscope deals don’t last long. Mine will go away by lunchtime on Thursday. My handle is Teamarcia.
…and finally, 2016’s Boston Marathon filled at BQ minus 2:28. My heart goes out to all of you who BQ’d but missed the cut. I’m thinking the standard will be tightened further in the future.
I’m linking up with Deb for the Wednesday Word which is Passionate.
…and with Amanda for Thinking Out Loud Thursdays.
PB Pretzels after a hard run/race are definitely one of my favorite treats! But I can’t keep them in the house. They call to me.
You are not the last person who hasn’t seen Breaking Bad . . . we might do that next summer. We watch enough tv during the year, but we cut the cord on dish so there isn’t a whole lot on in the summer. This summer we went thru all 6 seasons of Lost.
It poured buckets this morning is is a true northeast day, bluster and gray, but it cleared up enough so that I could walk the dogs, which will make us all happy.
No. I am the last soul.
Good luck on your race. I still have one more week until my half.
Oh you’re not alone – haven’t seen Breaking Bad yet. I want to but there’s been no time for marathon series watching – not until I finish House of Cards! That looks like perfect weather – hope it holds up for you.
What an exciting time for you! Nope, I haven’t seen Breaking Bad either!
I haven’t seen Breaking Bad. Is that weird? Oh, wow that does looks like a perfect forecast. You will have an awesome race. Good luck!
You are the tapering guru. You’ve got it all covered. Good luck for the race and enjoy!
I haven’t yet seen Breaking Bad either. On my list to watch during long dull trainer rides this winter. And mmm, peanut butter pretzels…awesome combo!
So excited for you that its getting close! Sounds like you are doing all the right things. I need to check out periscope more….I’ll open the app and look around for a bit but I still don’t really know what I am doing on there!
getting close! Very exciting for you! I hope you have had a great week- it is all part of the fun! Now pass over some of those PB pretzels, will ya? I will be cheering for you! Good luck!
GET IT LADY! You are going to do magically. Tapering LIKE A BOSS
I suck at the taper. You are killing it! That weather? PERFECT. I am so excited for you. It’s going to be a good one!
That BQ thing makes me mad. IMO, They should let in all first time qualifiers and let in less charity athletes. It is just not fair to have a standard and lop it off. Especially for 1st time qualifiers. *stepping off soapbox to run now.
I loved Breaking Bad. Kind of jumped off the rails in the last season, but hey, gotta love Walter White and his sidekick Jessie. Totally entertaining!
You are going to do awesomely at Twin Cities. The weather looks great. I’ve been weather stalking Chicago and it looks like it may be warmer than we like… 🙁
AAAAAH! It’s marathon week for me too and holy crap am I nervous. Following suit with pounding the electrolytes and stalking the weather….so far, big chance of rain…WAH! Best of luck to you <3
The cut off times for running Boston amaze me every single year. And the fact that even if you meet that time you won’t necessarily be able to run Boston. My heart breaks for those who do qualify but wind up not making the final cut.
Breaking Bad – so good! You’re not the last – my boyfriend still hasn’t seen it. Whomp! Enjoy the rest of tapering!
You’re definitely not the last person in the world who hasn’t seen Breaking Bad! I haven’t either, and I can’t even say that I plan to — I have a hard time watching TV and honestly can’t even remember the last time I turned mine on. I hope it still works 😆
You are the second to last who hasn’t seen Breaking Bad… I’ve only seen season 1. It was so stressful that I took a break… and then ended up starting other shows ha
I love taper!!! It’s the best feeling to have only a measly 3-miler on the calendar. Heck, 3 miles is barely your warm-up!!! Those hydration beverages look yummy, too.
I’ve never seen Breaking Bad!!! Is it awful that I don’t even know what it’s about???
Jealous of your weather. It’s sucky rainy here. Cold, wind, + heavy rain = rest day for me.
Way to rock that taper.
I have not seen Breaking Bad either.
I always wanted to BQ and seeing the new standards really put me off, qualifying is hard enough, but qualifying minus some minutes is even harder.,..not sure I ha e it in me, love Breaking Bad!
I know it’s so important to take care of yourself during the taper, being passionate about it should ensure you have a fantastic race day!
I love Tapering too!! It’s like… you’ve worked SOOO hard now enjoy a little “R and R” I’m a weather stalker too!!! can’t wait to hear about your race!
Best of luck on your race! Also, Breaking Bad is an excellent choice! I might watch some of if for the THIRD time during this rainy weekend!! Can’t wait to read your post-race stories.
I’ve got my first half in a few weeks so I’m about to taper for the first time … I have a feeling I will like it very much haha
“Rounding up the gear. It takes a freaking village.” – So true! Can I just say that I think I packed more for my Ragnar DC weekend than my sons packed when they went off to college!
I haven’t seen Breaking Bad either…
Thanks for linking up!
Ok, I’m way behind in reading blog posts so i know you have already run your race. Thanks for saying peanut butter pretzels, now I need to go out and get some! I get to taper like a boss now, whooo hoo!
