Vegas Baby: So registration opened and I pulled the trigger yesterday. Turns out it’s on our 17th wedding anniversary weekend so the Caveman is coming with me. Should be all kinds of fun. Not sure about the night race part. Past my bedtime. Plus how do you fuel pre-race? Hit up the Vegas buffet early I guess? Who’s joining me in Vegas? Go sign up here.
Here’s a pic I dredged up from last year’s Shuffle
Eggshell Shuffle: I’m racing with the kids this weekend: Actually I hope they might wanna walk some as this chest sludge hasn’t lifted and I haven’t run all week. The swag at this race is your choice of shirt or shorts. The first year I ran they were nice Nike tempo shorts. Last year they were another brand that was too big and I couldn’t switch sizes. I went with a shirt this year to avoid the shorts fiasco only to learn they were offering cute pink Nike Tempos this year. I emailed the race director expected to either be ignored or told I couldn’t switch. To my pleasant surprise he got right back to me and switched me to shorts. Yay! Always SO nice when a race director is responsive.
Bracing for the Hurricane. Hurricane MIL that is. The IL’s are in town for the holiday. I’ve mentioned her before. She’s a prize. That’s all I’m gonna say.
Yesterday was the most glorious day here. Sunny and 73 degrees of pure heaven. I took Thing 2 to the playground. Blame it on chest sludge meds but I got a little carried away on the bars. Evidence is here if you haven’t seen it. Nastia’s got nothing on me.
Have you had a surprising experience with a race director, positive or negative? What are you most looking forward to this weekend?
I’m linking up today with the lovely Amanda for Thinking Out Loud Thursday.

Yea for Vegas! I hit the registration button yesterday too. I don’t know what to do with the whole “run at night” thing – should be an experience for sure! Boo on the chest sludge…and good luck with the hurricane!

OMG! so excited for VEGASSSSSS. and Vancouver too. I cant wait to take you for the most epic brunch or dinner at my fav spot there. Already working on race outfit ideas. haha. Also…amazing when race directors are great. Most are. You’ll have to ask me about a few shocker stories I have about a couple.

I raced last year on my husband’s birthday AND our anniversary. Unfortunately he opted not to come along for the fun, but at least I got to go. Very cool that you guys can make a trip of it!
The shorts would be AWESOME swag.
And Easter is all about being with my MIL. Not my first choice, but she’s not the same kind of prize you have, thank goodness.

There’s always good blogging fodder after a visit from your MIL, so I’ll look forward to that while you suffer! ; )
Feel better for the run this weekend–love the idea of pink shorts as swag!

I loved your video at the playground – so awesome!!!
The race director’s wife from the Grasslands 50 (the ultra I just quit because of mud and the fact that I’m a wimp) somehow found my blog and left a very nice comment on my race post.
Good luck with the inlaws this weekend!!!
Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine says
This weekend I am looking forward to some shopping with my mom and celebrating Easter with my family! Good luck with the MIL!

I did the RNRLV a few years ago. It was a cool experience except for the water issues they had that year…and yes, I was one of the people who got sick 🙁 At the time I was doing all of my running in the evening so the timing was perfect for me, but a lot of people did have fueling issues. You’re going to have fun!
Alison @ racingtales says
Yay for responsive and accommodating race directors, boo for MILs (mine’s also a treat). I’m not a fan of Vegas, and can’t see myself enjoying a race there, especially at night…but I know some people love it!

Bummed to miss the Egg Shell Shuffle this year. I signed up but have no car and am a bit tired/raced out from NYC 1/2 and Shamrock so I am skipping. Have fun with the girls!

Oh Marcia…..good luck with the hurricane. I *empathize*.
Vegas will be so fun for your anniversary! I’ve never done a night race before, that should be interesting. We went to Vegas once and I did SO much walking everywhere.
