One final look back before we push ahead into another year. Linking up again for Tuesdays on the Run with Erika, Patty and April.
I’m not a resolution maker but I did set some broad goals for 2014:
- Learn to swim. Check….kind of…
- Lift heavy once a week. I’m gonna say check on this one too. The heavy lifting slipped away in the thick of marathon training but I came back to it and stuck with it enough to call this a win.
- Fresh races. Check. There were a couple of repeats but mostly new stuff for me.
- New training plan. Check. Until this year I’d been a Run Less Run Faster Girl. This year I worked with two different coaches and increased my running days per week from 3 to 4. I came away injury free so big win on this front.
Since I already recapped my running year, let’s focus on other stuff:
Made ‘healthified’ versions of favorite dishes as a ‘celebrity chef at a Humana Vitality event in Milwaukee, WI.
Finally met Amanda, aka Miss Zippy
Ran my first race series: Flying Pig Skyline Chili 3-way (5k, 10k, half) in Cincinnati. Oh wait, this is running. Look away.
Got my RRCA certification and coached my first crop of half and full marathoners.
Became an Ambassador for Diet-to-Go, SD Supplements and the Espirit de She race series.
Named to the 2015 RocknBlog Squad.
Spoke at the Women’s Running Telesummit.
Eked out a single lift PR on the bench press.
Managed two unassisted pullups.
That about wraps up another very quick year. In January this blog turns 6. 6! In putting this post together, I reviewed many old posts and reread comments from many friends, old and new. I thank all of you who continue to stop by. It’s been fun to meet many of you and 2015 promises to be a year filled destination race fun. I wish you a year filled with peace, health, kindness, joy, good friends and good running!

That’s a wide variety of accomplishments! I don’t think I have met any bloggers this year- too much of a recluse as far as races go!
Didn’t realize you were working with coaches for running. How did I miss that? That’s great results – INJURY FREE running !! No other way to be ♥ Happy New Year, Marcia!

Sounds like a great year to me! I’m getting RRCA Certified in two weeks, so excited for that! As for RLRF, you mentioned moving from 3 runs to 4…that really helped with injury? I’m assuming you focused less on speed which led to less injury? I’ve been doing RLRF and it has drastically improved my speed, but I still dealt with a few nagging injuries. Just wondering if it would really make that much of a difference?

Sounds like a great year! We so need to meet up when I’m in Wisconsin some time.

Happy New Year, Marcia! Sorry that I haven’t been commenting lately but I’m still reading all of your posts. Congratulations on an amazing 2014, and I can’t wait to see what 2015 brings for you. SO AWESOME that you are one of RnR’s official RocknBloggers! I actually just signed up for the RnR 3-Pack Tour Pass. I’m registered for RnR DC, will probably sign up for RnR Chicago, and need to pick a third one. Vegas, maybe? Let me know if you decide to run RnR DC, too. =)
