Miles Run: 27
Miles Run in September: 135 highest in a year+
Monday: Upper body strength. This should’ve been yoga but I got to class late and didn’t want to be “that” disruptive late yogi I’m always complaining about.
Tuesday: 6 miles
Wednesday: Yoga/lower body strength/core
Thursday: 4.1 miles
Friday: Rest
Saturday: 5k trail race
Sunday: 14 miles hilly
This was the last cutback week before taper for NYCM. Just one more big week. My how time has flown.
Note to self: So far, although I’ve felt on the edge of getting sick, I’ve managed to stay healthy and feel energized and optimistic about my training. But I need to stop, stop, STOP inviting people over the day of my long run. I’ve done this 2 weeks in a row and I am completely wiped out, grumpy and useless.
All I want is to eat, wrap myself up in compression everything, eat, and have someone rub my feet yet I have no takers. When we aren’t entertaining, we’ve been going out (I know, who ARE we?). This doesn’t mix well with marathon training (and my geriatric bedtime) either.
Looking ahead: I’ve got a 20 (will I make it 22?) miler this weekend then taper town, which looks quite appealing at this point. Of course I say that now.
What have you learned “not to do” during training?

I do that all the time when marathon training–overbook and then am miserable. I’m sure my friends would prefer that I stop it, too!
You are three weeks out–that is crazy!

I cannot imagine having people in when doing long runs! Wow!

I try to really watch what I eat. And no late nights for me. I’m too old for that anyways!

I used to have a job where I would have to do long runs (or even run a half mara) and then go into work. They were total jerkwads. Sometimes I even booked ahead to have a sunday off to do long run, and then boss would say we are short you have to come in. I drew the line at working after running anything over 15 miles. And yeh….making dinner plans or having a date (bahahahaha i fell asleep at the movies a few times) is a DUMB idea after a long run.

Congrats on all of the miles and good luck on your 20+ mile run. Then taper town! The excitement builds…

Seeing as I don’t have a lot of support on the homefront, and my running is considered a “hobby” to some, I must do my long run and then be ready for anything. Otherwise I’m accused of allowing my hobby to interfere with the family. So I run, then come directly home & make a big breakfast for the fam, then shower & go with whatever. But I draw the line at staying up late. I’m an early to bed girl, no matter what. Even been known to go to bed while hubby was entertaining (ie: drinking) with friends. So PLEASE, eat, compress & nap for me too!!!
Good luck in NYC!!!

Funny, I was just telling my sister-in-law that I like to run 12 or so miles and I can do that during my early morning workout time without it affecting my day too much. But, much over that distance and I’m pretty much worthless the rest of the day.
Hooray for being at the end of training – enjoy this last long run!!!

Obviously you need to invite only massage therapists over after long runs. Well, maybe personal chefs would be a good idea too.

Kovas you are definitely on to something!

So ironic that this is your post today because we have an almost all day event coming up and I was thinking of doing dinner and a play afterward. Not that it cannot be done but I will be tired – and maybe grumpy!
PS, would you mind sending your social media links to me so I can follow you? You can put it in my comments on today’s post

Exciting!!! You are getting so close! Can’t wait to cheer you on. I would get home from a long run, do some mama stuff, then I would totally veg out during nap time. I am simultaneously horrified and impressed you’ve had visitors on long run days.

Hey there, You have done a great job. I’ll definitely digg it and personally recommend to my friends.
I’m sure they will be benefited from this site.

You’re inviting the wrong people over. Surely you should be asking a masseuse. They could swap a foot and calf rub for some of your delicious food.

Having read this I believed it was really enlightening.
I appreciate you spending some time and
energy to put this article together. I once again find myself spending a significant
amount of time both reading and leaving comments. But so
what, it was still worthwhile!
