I usually do these on the last Friday of the month but since I’ll be in the final throes of NYCM stuff, and Halloween (and I volunteered in Thing 2’s class Friday, what? I hope they don’t mind when I put my feet up, snack and hydrate all morning) I thought it better to runfess sooner than later. Feel free to join in and tag me so I can share in your transgressions.
1. I show you all my scenic trail pics on Instagram, alas I have yet to find a trail shoe I really love. The Brooks ones I got awhile back are no bueno after about 5 miles (note to self, just stop trying to make Brooks work already) so I go trailing in whatever. Even my Newtons.
2. I am not nervous for NYCM today. At. All. Ask me again tomorrow, that may change.
3. I still have nothing to wear for NYCM. Tank + sleeves? Short sleeves + sleeves? Long sleeves I can push up? Peeps who’ve run NYCM what did you wear?
4. Not 2 hours after being told by my coach to stop pushing the pace, I (you guessed it) ran my tempo miles entirely too fast. What is with the rocket boosters during taper? Nerves? Adrenaline? Fresh legs? All of the above?
5. We rebooked our NYC hotel last night and got 5 blocks away from the finish for $120 less per night than the hotel we had previously that was 23 blocks away. Ok this is not a runfession but a celebration.
Ok your turn: What have you to Runfess? I promise you’ll feel better!

I am thinking it will probably be cold when you start then warm up as you get going. I am a fan of being able to shed layers when necessary but I remember the zipper of your top chafed you during a run. I typically wear a light long sleeved over a tank and sports bra then tuck the long sleeve top into my waist band (or tie the sleeves) after peeling it off.

Congrats on the finish line celebration – being close to the finish is key!

Wow to number 5–how’d you score that? I’m glad you’re not nervous–no need, you are a pro. I always say dress in less than you think you need to, especially since NY is a later start. You’re going to love it, I’m sure.
I’ve got nothing to confess b/c I’m telling you, I’m still honeymooning with running. I guess I should confess that I don’t miss speed work–I am very content going MAF slow.

I’m running too fast and too far for recovery. Oops! But it feels so right, so it can’t be wrong….

Runfession: I completely ignored stretching or foam rolling or anything after my long run today in favour of hitting up a hot shower and my sweats as quickly as humanly possible. Gonna regret that one in the morning.
Also I find it’s always wayyy better to be a bit cold during a race than to overheat! Tank / short sleeves + arm sleeves would sound about right to me.

That is so awesome about the hotel! That deserves a celebration.
Regarding what to wear you can go on Facebook and ask like I do. Problem is, you’re the person who guides me so I don’t know how helpful that’ll be for you. 🙂

Short sleeves and arm sleeves. Looks chilly in the forecast.
Remind me when you arrive. Which hotel did you move to? That is awesome!

I’ve never done New York, but I’m dying to do it! My sister lives right across the street from Central Park, so she goes over to watch every year. I’m so jealous! Can’t wait to hear all about it!

I can’t run right now – some weird leg issue – so nothing to confess except the fact that I might have to break down and go to the DR.
Hooray for the hotel so close to the finish for cheaper.
How was the ice skating this weekend???
Laura@Fit Running Mama says
Sadly… I think my growing belly is going to force me to quit running. I should be thrilled I’ve gotten this far but the ligaments stretching over the weekend made it rather painful… I’ll have to try again in a few day

I am SO EXCITED for you!! I know how long you’ve waited for this race! When I ran NYC, I wore shorts, a tank, calf sleeves, and arm sleeves. Topped it with Walmart sweatpants and a sweatshirt that I ditched at the start. I cut the bottoms off a pair of white tube socks and used them as arm warmers. I took those off and tossed them at mile 20. I don’t have a runfession, have two more weeks in the boot. So I’m living vicariously through other runners! : )

ooh, great deal on the hotel! and yes, my tempo work seems EFFORTLESS while it sucked during my “real” training. and, i’m a ball of nerves….already. pretty sure I might throw up on that ferry. BUT I’M SOOOO EXCITED!!!!

That is awesome that you got that hotel for so cheap! Yay How long are you staying?
When I ran NYC I wore a tank and shorts. I think the high was 55 that day 🙂
