NYCM training week 11 is complete. Here’s how it went:
Total miles: 38
Monday: Hot vinyasa flow yoga
Tuesday: 4 miles
Wednesday: 7 miles (10x800m)
Thursday: 6.14 trail miles
Friday: Rest
Saturday: 18.15. It warmed up and this sucked after about 14 but it’s done.
Sunday: 3.1 5k with kiddos
This was a solid week of running for me. That said, all strength training seems to have gone out the window. Our weather continues to be gorgeous, yet I failed to get out on the bike as well. But my focus has been on running so not all bad. The final week of the 21-Day Reset has left me feeling on the edge of getting sick, although, knock wood, I still haven’t. I’m still not fully adjusted to this unprocessed, crap-free lifestyle. Needless to say the 18-miler has turned me into a food-seeking furnace.
I didn’t plan on running the 5k on Sunday, but it was Thing 2’s first and she was NERVOUS! Thing 1 originally planned to run with her, but decided she wanted to race it, so, twist my arm, helicopter mom filled in. Haha! Turns out we had nothing to worry about as both kids rocked it and I think Thing 2 has been bitten by the running bug. All she can talk about are the races she can’t wait to do. It’s funny how different kids are. Thing 1 wanted nothing to do with me at her first 5k and ran it carefree, with friends. Thing 2 is a worrier and was more than happy to have me with her.
She was reluctant when I peeled off to let her finish the last half mile on her own.
They both rocked it and were all smiles afterward!
Looking ahead: This is a recovery week! The last one before the official taper. Yikes! Where has time gone? And the 21-Day Reset is officially over so I’m on my own. More soon on the outcome of that and how I plan to proceed.
What was fun for you this weekend? Did you race?

One of my favorite things–running with my kids, especially when they come out of it happy like yours did! And great run training again for you–nice work!

EEE taper time for you soon! We had a great 16 mile training run and then did some fall activities. I love that your kids both love running, so much fun!

Congratulations on completing your 18-miler! Way to push through! (In my experience, the 18-miler was my toughest of my entire training cycle – it was even harder than my 20-miler.)
You are such a cool mom, running 5Ks with your daughters. I only wish that I could have run races with my parents when I was a child!

Too cool that your kiddos share your love of running and racing!
Your 18 miles…shudder. I ran just over 13 this weekend and it was HARD. So glad I didn’t have 18 on the schedule. It warmed up here, too. Such a difference!

Well done on infecting your kids with the love of running. That’s huge and will have long-reaching ramifications for the rest of their lives.

I can relate to having one kid enjoy running with me and the other prefer to run on his own all the time. So cool that your girls enjoy running!!!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
You continue to rock your training! Love that pic of Thing 2 bringing it home! It’s great both your girls have the running bug!
Jill says
That’s so cool about Thing 2. Now we just gotta get the Caveman in on these…and find yourself a cooperate sponsor for all the family race fees :). Congrats to the girls, I know you must be super proud!

Running always seems to happen easier for me too. I think the problem is that my gym is on a covered porch so I don’t want to be out there when its icky out and when it is nice out, I want to run! My poor weights feel neglected.

So wonderful that your girls like running too and that it can be a family thing.

When I was being really good with no crap, dairy or grains I was somewhat weak when I worked out. I never adjusted. Haven’t been as good these days but want to get back at it with some adjustments for energy.
