As a Sweatpink Ambassador, I was given the opportunity to test out a new workout app: The Fitness Games.
This one is cool because you can challenge yourself, challenge friends, or even random strangers all over the world. It works with Apple and Android smart phones and can be downloaded FREE here.
There are 4 categories: Strength, Cardio, Full Body and Crosstraining.
Since it was upper body strength day, I chose the “Get Off My Back” workout. The idea is to complete the number of sets and reps of each given exercise in the shortest amount of time. Let me just say having a clock ticking encouraged me not to dawdle. Apparently I did pretty well with it as I ended up in 5th place overall. I’ll take it.
What’s great about this app:
- It feeds your competitive fire. The “peer pressure” of competing will keep you motivated.
- If you thrive on encouragement and interaction with friends, even if they’re imaginary, this is for you. The “peer pressure” of competing will keep you motivated.
- There are challenging workouts that require only bodyweight to perform. Awesome for travel when there’s no decent gym around.
- There’s a private Facebook group for even more support. “Meet” other users there and add them to your friends list.
What I especially liked about this app:
- There are a whole bunch of workouts. I’m one who often fails to plan and I find myself reverting to the same stale strength workouts by default. Having this as close as my smart phone really helps me keep things fresh and my muscles challenged.
- If you have any question as to how to perform any of the exercises, instructional video demos are just a finger swipe away.
- Completed workouts can be stored in a workout tracking calendar. One of my favorite things is looking back on a week or a month and seeing how active (or not) I was.
The verdict: Because there are so many fitness trackers out there, it’s often difficult to keep them all straight and easy to forget about them. This one breaks through the clutter because of its social aspect. And it sure doesn’t hurt that it’s free! Definitely worth checking out!

I love the idea of this app!!! I am going to have to download it from my phone and use it when I can work out again.
It is totally true that if I am working out with someone I am definitely NOT going to skip out early if I’m tired. LOL

A clock timing me would motivate me more too!

That app sounds fun – I’m pretty competitive so I think I would like the competition!!!

I use map my run. I have several friends who use it and the app alerts you when a friend has completed a workout. We tend to encourage each other a lot!

That looks like a cool app – harnesses the social power of competition and I like that it gives you the workout rather than having to come up with one.

Maybe this would get me back on track.

Sounds good but I think I’d prefer to work out with real people.

I NEED TO HIRE A TRAINER TO MOTIVATE ME so so so badly. If I don’t have someone TELLING ME what to do, I won’t do it! I am a huge cardio rat… I need WEIGHTS in my life!

Great goods from you, man. I’ve consider your stuff previous to

really like what you’re stating and the way in which wherein you assert it.
You’re making it entertaining and you still take care of to
keep it wise. I can not wait to read far more from you.
That is actually a tremendous website.
