Can you believe there are only a few days left before we slip into September? Noooo…..wait….kids are already back in school, weather has been pretty much sucking, I suppose I should embrace fall already. Not before I cleanse my running soul with some runfessions. Ready?
I do not hide the fact that I love me some mill time when the weather gets ridiculously hot/humid around here. I especially love that our Lifetime Fitness has gotten lots of new Woodway treadmills. An entire, long, luxurious row of them…maybe even more. I suspect because they don’t have TV’s, they’re not the most popular mills in the joint. Every time I’ve been there, I choose one on the end. There’s maybe one other person using them at least 5 mills down. But invariably, someone will come, usually after I’ve gotten all lathered up with sweat after a few miles, and take the mill RIGHT NEXT TO ME! I mean WHY???? Why does one want to run next to a sweat-spraying, smelly runner in the throes of 800m repeats? Men do it, women do it, when there are 147 other open mills in the place, they go right next to me. I’ve never met anyone who’d admit to being a close runner. Or a close parker. But I know you’re out there and I’d love to know why…why….why?
As much as I say I love the mill, sometimes it’s a struggle to stay focused and on the dang thing, especially when I mill at home. One particular run comes to mind where I got off, ran up to my closet and and changed shoes not once, not twice but 3 times.
I coveted the official Chicago Triathlon pint glass at the expo, even though I am not a triathlete. Did not pull the trigger though so it’s all good.
Got a runfession to share? Spill it! You’ll feel better, I promise!

I’ve bared my soul so much on my blog already…no new runfessions for today. But you know how I feel about the ‘mill. Not a fan. I sure don’t get those close runners, close parkers, or close talkers….

I love that you coveted that pint glass!! You’re gonna pull the trigger and do a triathlon, I know it:) Runfession for me: I have wondered to myself if I could truly train for and survive a whole marathon. Not enough to look at plans or sign up, but it was some honest consideration

I don’t run anymore due to a knee thing but when I did I used to hate it when someone would come up right next to me. Until one day a girl came up next to me and began running as I was taking a ‘break’. (I was still sorta new so I wasn’t awesome enough to run for several miles without a break) Not to be outdone, I kicked it back up. Then she sped up. I don’t have to be the fastest but it kept me motivated to keep running instead of breaking.
This happened a few more times and I realized it motivated me to keep going. Eventually, I did not mind having another person run next to me anymore. I am thinking that is why they would do it- for motivation.

Maybe your sweat has some pheromones in it. Can’t think of any other reason why you’d pick a treadmill right next to someone when there are others open.

Confession: I LOATHE the treadmill.

HaHa – so funny about the treadmills at the gym – cracks me up that people would do that. It should be an unspoken rule like public toilet stalls – always skip one if possible!!!

Aggh! What is it about the close runners at the gym?!? Nothing drives me crazier! My runfession? Not really loving my runs right now – hopefully this phase will pass soon!
