I’ve teased you about my magic pillow for a couple of weeks now. I suppose it’s high time I come out with it already. I had the opportunity to test out the Rem-Fit sleep system.
I’ve been doing just that and it’s too good to keep all to myself. Like I told you before, I’m blessed with mostly deep, rock-hard sleep, except on nights after I’ve done a really strenuous workout. Think something like 800m repeats. Then it seems I’m so wound up, I’m able to fall asleep, but I don’t stay down. Not sure what the reason for that is but I’m looking at you cortisol.
So anyway, Rem-Fit sent me their Adjustable Pillow, Pillow Cover and Mattress Protector.
The mattress protector and pillow cover are made from Tencel. What’s Tencel? It’s an engineered fiber derived from natural wood cellulose, so it’s sustainable. Similar in feel to bamboo, Tencel has excellent properties:
- Naturally thermo-regulating and wicks away moisture
- Prohibits bacterial growth
- Hypo Allergenic
- Great for sensitive skin
- Softer than cotton
The verdict: The texture of the mattress protector and pillow cover is silky smooth. Maybe even better: There’s a “miracle membrane” moisture barrier that protects your mattress from spill and stains, and also seals out dust mites, allergens and other irritants, including the dreaded bed bugs. Major thumbs up on all fronts.
Now let’s get to my favorite: The magic pillow. That’s my name for it, not Rem-Fit’s in case you were wondering. I’m kind of finicky about pillows…ok I’m a lot finicky. I’ve had my current squeeze for a loooong time. I think I moved to my first apartment with it. Let’s just say it’s seen better days. As much as I’ve tried, I just haven’t found a suitable replacement that’s the right amount of squishy and firm; soft yet cool. Until now. The Rem-Fit Adjustable pillow is serious. The king-size one sent to me is substantial and luxurious. Well you’d expect it to be for $149.99. It’s an investment for sure. But hey, you’ll use it every freaking night and isn’t a great night’s sleep worth it? You know it is.
The pillow is stuffed with more of this fabulous Tencel I talked about above. But the real beauty of this pillow, are you ready? You can adjust the amount of filling you want inside of it. There’s a super-secret zippered compartment where you can go and pull out or keep in just the right amount of Tencel filling.
Now that’s what dreams are made of, yes? I got mine to just the right level of squishy yet firm. I may be hallucinating but I think this pillow stays cooler than the average bear too. All the better for those of us going though peri-menopausal night-sweat h!@#. Not that I’d know anything about that.
The Rem-Fit sleep system is definitely something you’ll want to check out. Remember sleep is a vital part of your workout recovery.
Are you a sound sleeper? Does a tough workout affect your sleep?
I received the Rem-Fit sleep system free of charge in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Ryan and I had to get up at the crack of darkness this morning for the Georgetown Half. Add in there how ill-fit I am to race a half marathon and I was completely wiped out after. I talked all the way home how I was going to take a looooong nap all afternoon. Nope. 10 minutes was it. Him – 3 hours. THREE HOURS! I contribute my inability to sleep after a hard run because my muscle fibers are twitching so much in my old age. Thank God for Ambien! 😉

I’m a pretty good sleeper, normally…this week has thrown me for a loop. I think I’m sleeping with one eye open since Tom’s accident. Normally, tho, if I get to bed before my snoring husband, I’m pretty good for about 8 hours or so.

Not being able to sleep well seems to be a common problem. I’m pretty bad at it. I wake often through the night and with noises and I have trouble getting to sleep a lot of the time. But the last couple of weeks I’ve slept better and I’ve finally worked out the main source of my sleeping issues. My husband decided to sleep in another bed with his bad back and all of a sudden I’m getting more hours per night. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

I really should look into that pillow – I sleep very poorly all the time. Even if I’m in bed for 7-8 hours (the standard time), I usually never get more than 5 hours of sleep a night – lots of time awake even when dead tired!!!

It takes me forever to fall asleep, but once I am out I am out for good.

The price…a real investment. But I really do like that you can adjust the amount of filling. If I don’t have everything just right the chance that I’m going to fall asleep before sunset are pretty slim. And a cool pillow is a must. I think it helps with my morning migraines. I have no idea why I think that but I do.

man, i’m the same about my pillows! they are OLD. and i don’t want to buy new ones. I’m not the best sleeper and wish that I was better-white noise seems to help block things out for me (light sleeper issues).
