This week I’m linking up with Cyn, Courtney and Mar’s Friday Five. Here we go:
1. I’m single parenting this weekend so I guess any Father’s Day festivities for the Caveman (beyond sneaking a card in his luggage) will have to wait.
2. Shortly the girl chicks and I will be road tripping out of state for a figure skating competition. Stress much? (I adore skating but I’m kind of maxed out on it right now) Then racing home because…
3. Thing 1 is flying out dark and early Sunday morning for a week with grandparents, leaving Thing 2, me and the dogs on our own. Read: I won’t be getting outside for any runs/bike next week (but I’ll be bench-pressing my brains out). It’ll be awesome to have one-on-one time with Thing 2 though.
4. I realized last night when I was setting up my plan that NYCM training doesn’t start until July 12 (I thought it started the week of the 2nd.) So maybe I shouldn’t wig out about my running challenges next week.
5. Thing 1 is cooking. COOKING! She exhibited not one speck of interest in it until she had a class in school. First it was eggs, then pancakes, french toast, fried rice…..now she’s cooking dinner…I swear she’s morphed into Mario Batalli overnight and I LOVE it!
Caramelized apple pancake that rose 10 stories in the oven? Yes please!
What’s fun for you this weekend? Doing anything special for/with dad?
FAB FIVE! And kids cooking? What’s the world coming to?! 😀 Have a wonderful weekend, darling!
Wow–I’m impressed with the cooking skills! Nice job helping her get there. And I can relate to the single parenting–Mr. Z has been gone all week and is back home for a day before flying out to Finland tomorrow. Did I mention we also have a swim meet, a lax championship game and a soccer tournament this weekend while he is away? Good times!
So cool that your daughter is cooking! Maybe I should make sure my son takes a cooking class;) We are headed to the coast for the weekend but plans got a bit messed up last night when my youngest’s baseball team didn’t win their game. Now they have one tonight which means instead of leaving around 3, we will leave around 9:( Ugh!
I want that pancake! Have a great weekend!
I love that your daughter is cooking! I still love to cook with my mother – we do it whenever I’m home.
Hope you have a great time!
It’s sometimes hard to have one on one time when you have more than one kid. It’s always nice when you can get it.
I love having extra cooks in the house! Although, Lucas mostly bakes. The apple pancake looks delish!
No plans. Jason is recovering from an allergic reaction to an antibiotic. But we’re doing an actual date night this month assuming he’s up to it.
Matthew made enchiladas for us last week after he finished his cooking class. He also enjoys making desserts in a mug for himself. I don’t know if he’ll cook anything else for us, but it was fun!
I need a daughter to cook for me haha I guess I better start having kids!
Oh this really warms my heart to see that your daughter has enjoyed her cooking class and now wants to cook at home. I taught cooking classes at a public high school/middle school for years until they decided to cut the budget and they got rid of the class in favor of a larger sports complex. I really do think kids benefit from those hands on type of classes. Especially ones where they will use the skill every day, like cooking!
I’m off to visit and spend some qt with my dad this weekend! that apple pancake looks AMAZING!!
So, I’m thinking that maybe we should introduce our kids!!! You have 2 super nice girls, I have 2 nice boys…..:)
Enjoy your girls weekend!!!
What I wouldn’t do for a child that cooked! Want to swap?
My fun this weekend is that I have nothing going on! I’m going to visit my dad, and that’s it! I’m going to take it easy.
WOW that pancake looks amazing!! I love when my kids want to cook with me!!
That pancake DOES look amazing. Have a great road trip with the girls!
Fun this weekend is the WEATHER!
Going to take advantage of it by going hiking and BBQing! 🙂
We usually are just happy to spend some time with the family.
Hope you had a great weekend! Love that your daughter is into cooking!
I’m pretty sure that means your daughter can cook more/better than I can. Impressive. In my cooking class in school the only thing I learned how to make was pretzels and cookie bars.
