1. Nature’s Bounty Update: Well it’s been 30 days since I started taking Nature’s Bounty Hair/Skin/Nail supplements. First let me say these gummies are quite delicious. The verdict? My hair is great. It may have grown a little faster because now it’s totally insane but that’s because I almost never get in for a cut too. My skin is fine. I neglected to take a before pic so not sure about if it’s any clearer. My nails are where I was really hoping to see some improvement.
When I started the supps I had lots of splitting problems. Granted it’s been a tough month with lots of chipping and breaking (gardening will do that). I didn’t think the supps had too much of an impact, but now looking at the pics, I can tell that lots of the splitting issues I had are gone or at least better. Overall my nails seem less dry and brittle.
2. Going Natural. I’m slowly chipping away and switching to more natural products around here. The microwave went almost a year ago and we never looked back. I switched to all glass food storage containers. I found a natural face cleanser and shampoo I like. Now I’m trying out a natural laundry detergent. So far so good, but the jury’s still out. Stay tuned for a full review.
3. Amber Alert: One of my beloved purple Balega Blister-Resist socks has gone missing. It’s my all-time favorite and the only pair (of this particularly sweet variety) I have. It’s been weeks but I refuse to give up hope.
4. Retail Jag: I seem to be in a purchasing frenzy lately. It started at the Flying Pig expo where I dragged home my fair share (cough maybe more cough) of running apparel, a couple pairs of Balega socks (not the Blister Resist, very hard to find, wah!) and a whole barnyard of pig-themed merchandise for Thing 2. Then there was an additional 20% off sale at Athleta…and the blowout deal on my Mizuno shoes. Where will it end?
5. Big weekend ahead: Thing 1 will be competing at her Track Sectional Finals tomorrow. I will be running the Chicago Spring Half Marathon on Sunday. Should be fun!
Do you have a favorite pair of socks? Do you splurge at race expos? On workout gear in general? Who’s racing? Still time to enter my giveaway!

It must be in the air b/c I feel like I have been on a spending spree of late, too. Athleta in particular. What’s up with that?
Good luck to you and thing 1 this weekend!

If there is any chance that your hair grew faster with the supplements, I need them. This pixie is taking forever to graduate to bob status.
I rarely buy at expos because it’s usually stuff I could get elsewhere. That said, I remember the Pig having a ton of great pig branded stuff. I’m pretty sure they ruined me for expos because most don’t live up to it. Plus, I got months worth of free TP when I was there.

No spending sprees for me since I went on a race shopping tear a couple of weeks ago (put my credit card in lockdown!). I love Athleta’s stuff! Good luck to you and Thing 1 this weekend ๐

Oh no! I hope you find your socks:) My nails are a disaster since I got a shellac manicure a couple months ago. They are just now kind of grown out but still really thin:/

I tend to go in spurts with spending – I will not really buy anything (for myself) for long chunks of time and then I go crazy and buy everything!!!

Do you know if those gummies have gelatin in them? I am guessing yes.
LOLing at your amber alert! Giggle. Hope you find it ๐
And hope I bump in to you on Sunday!
Marcia says
Kim, yes, gelatin in the gummies. ๐

I have not had luck with the hair & nail supps so eager to hear more!

Does that hair supplement prevent gray? THAT is what I’m looking for!

I’ve been waiting to hear how the gummies did–it sounds like they worked well! I wish I’d like to switch over to all natural, but the truth is, I don’t care for some of the items as well as I like the chemicals– I need to get more disciplined in that area, but I would miss my sparkling clean toilet bowl and bright white clothes. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

My favorite socks are my swiftwick aspires, though I really really love the tall, striped Target socks I wear for most bike races.
I haven’t gone as natural as you have, but I did start making the switch to glass storage bowls. Slow process.
I badly WANT to go on a spending spree, but we just celebrated ten years in our house and have reached the point where things start needing to be replaced. First the dryer, then the water heater, then the garbage disposal, and now the washer. As long as the dominos keep falling slowly I think we can hang on and keep out of savings, but it’s definitely putting a crimp in my retail desires.

I just told Jason this week that I needed vitamins for my nails. I wrote this down on the grocery list. Now lets just hope I can find them somewhere in this itty bitty town.
I hope you find the sock. It can be traumatizing and hard on your psyche when you don’t know what happened, where it went, and when it might return. However, did you check Amazon for some new ones?

I’m a sock freak. I had blood clots in my varicose veins and started wearing compressions socks. I’ve had my varicose veins removed, have pain free legs BUT AM ADDICTED TO COMPRESSION SOCKS. They make my legs happy. Plus, I used to blister my pinkie toes and since I’ve gone to compression NO BLISTERS! I just got 2 pair of PRO Compression ($30 with coupon from Shut up and run blog) and love them. My other favorites are Nabee socks. At first I thought the Nabees were to thin to run in, but once I adjusted they are perfect.
My other recent gear splurge was a waist band to hold my giant phone. I absolutely hate arm straps they chafe and stink like sweat. Here is the belt: http://www.hippierunner.com/index.php/hippie-runner
