If you’ve hung out with me here for any length of time, you know I love me some yogurt. I love the creamy fruitiness before and after workouts, as a snack, dipping apples in it, making parfaits with berries, nuts, granola, even cooking and baking with it, you get the picture.
When I was invited to participate in a mission that involved taste testing Greek Yogurt, I grabbed my spoon. I am all about Greek Yogurt.
So the mission: Conduct a blind taste test of Yoplait Greek 100 Strawberry and Chobani Simply 100 Strawberry. Game on!
Step 1: Find stylish blindfolds to eliminate any urge to peek. Check.
Step 2: Acquire said yogurt at local grocery store. Check.
Step 3: Administer blind taste test among friends. These particular friends are die-hard Chobani fans. They went into this fully expecting to choose Chobani as the favorite.
Here’s what Jen had to say after her taste test.
Step 4: Have an unbiased and cooperative loved one (AKA Thing 1) administer blind taste test to me.
My impression? First let me out myself: I enjoy Chobani. I love other Yoplait varieties like Fruitful but I wasn’t familiar with their Greek Yogurt going into the taste test. The verdict? Yoplait tasted sweeter, thicker, creamier. Chobani tasted sour by comparison and the texture was on the runny side. Did I just say that? In my opinion, Yoplait Greek is the clear winner. There are 12 flavors in all, 100 calories per cup. I can’t wait to try the rest!
The score at halftime: 4 preferred Yoplait, 1 preferred Chobani.
Step 5: Because this is actually a lot of fun, I’m going to gather more opinions by dragging the dog and pony show, er I mean the yogurt to tomorrow’s race. Because runners have the best taste right?Β Stay tuned!
In the meantime, don’t take my word for it, click here to find out how to take the Yoplait Greek 100 Taste-Off and see for yourself which you prefer.

Are you a Greek Yogurt fan? Do you have a favorite brand? Have you ever done a blind taste test?

I’ve never done a blind taste test, even though I have a lot of awesome headbands to use as blindfolds. π I’ve never liked Chobani (sour/runny), even though it’s super popular. My favorites are Voskos Coconut, Fage Honey and Our Family Greek(generic!) honey.

i eat greek yogurt EVERY DAY. literally. I am NOT a chobani fan due to multiple product issues for me and the fact that they actively promote unhealthy greek yogurt (buy plain, add real fruit. I don’t understand why people don’t read labels of all the sugars and additives with the pre made stuff). I have tried the yoplait at my parents house and was pleasantly surprised. I think it comes in plain? I would buy that. π Oh, so I buy fage. There is my soap box. :):)
Marcia says
I do like the Fage. Very much. π

No high fructose corn syrup in the Yoplait? I’ve stopped eating those “conventional” yogurts because of questionable ingredients. When I learned Chobani was questionable too, my heart broke! I like Stonyfield Farms and Fage.

interesting! i wonder what i would have chosen. I am not a fan of sweet though. More sour. I’m weird

I actually eat Oikos. Why? Because John Stamos is hot LOL.

Greek yogurt is good (I ate it when I visited Greek Islands) and I can find it here in Italy. On the other hand, I don’t like eating food shipped from overseas.
Happy Easter!
Marcia says
Happy Easter Giorgio! I’ve been to Athens but NEED to visit the Greek Islands someday soon!

Sounds like a fun experiment. I love yogurt too but haven’t been buying it lately for some reason.
Angela @ Happy Fit Mama says
Fun! I’m a Stonyfield fan but I wonder which one I’d pick in a blind test.
Laura @ Mommy Run Fast says
A blind taste test would be so interesting! It’s funny how we assume we know what we love and have brand loyalty without genuinely comparing our options.

I have a Greek yogurt every morning and I choose Yoplait too. They have more 100 calorie flavors and are cheaper.

This reminds of when they used to do the Pepsi vs. Coke taste tests…way back in the day. I remember doing a taste test a couple of years ago at my friend’s house because I was convinced that Coke Zero would not taste as good as the regular one. I was wrong. Anyway, I have not done a greek yogurt taste test, but I’m always up for a healthy, tasty yogurt that does not have a ton of sugar and chemicals in it. Looks like Yoplait put on a very fancy taste test, but yours looked really fun π (Sorry, longest comment ever.)

We don’t have Chobani in Western Canada and it was the first Greek yogurt I ever tasted – won some and they shipped to me, then I did a review and they shipped more. Love the FF plain and all the fruity flavors I ever tried.
Last Fall when in WA state, I tried FAGE and TJ’s and they were soso. Now in Canada we have OIKOS which is awesome. Thick and creamy. I also like ASTRO and will even eat KIRKLAND (Costo brand and I don’t know who makes it here)… there are some I don’t care for at all, but have never tried YOPLAIT. I wonder if they have it in Canada too?
