The third and final week of the Fit Approach/Lorna Jane Move, Nourish, Believe Challenge is complete. Our focus this week was on Believing in ourselves. In case you missed it on Instagram, here’s how things went down:
Monday: Spoil Yourself. I can’t lie, Monday was a challenge. Yet another blizzard hit Chiberia while I was busy schlepping around the kids and their friends, since they were off school for President’s day. Driving in whiteout conditions is not my cup of tea. So once I made it home in one piece, I treated myself to a hot cup of Red Rose tea, which appeared in my Influenster J’Adore Box. Quite tasty and just what I needed to settle in for yet another cold, snowy night.
Tuesday: 5 Mindful Minutes. As hard as I’ve tried, sitting still and clearing my mind is not my bag. So I took to the prairie trails for a little walking meditation. Absolutely gorgeous and so peaceful.
Wednesday: Be Happy. It’s no secret the ice rink is my happy place. I was a competitive figure skater as a kid and I think there will always be ice in my veins. While my role over the years has evolved from student to coach, and I’m doing more standing around out there shouting than executing many skating moves these days, it is such a gift to be able to teach, mentor and inspire young athletes to build confidence, work hard, take risks, and realize potential they may not have know was there. It is fulfilling beyond words.
Thursday: Thankful Thursday. If you hung out with me here last summer you know I had a heart scare. Because heart disease runs rampant through my family, I do as much as I can to try to head it off. An abnormal EKG led to a failed holter monitor test. Because I’d had a stress echo a few years ago, a nuclear stress test was next. Thankfully that one came back all clear. Big sigh of relief. Knowledge is power. I am grateful for peace of mind.
Friday: Share the love. Over the years I’ve been asked hundreds of times what the heck my Twitter handle (Teamarcia) means. Oh if I had a nickel for every time I was asked “do you really like tea?” I guess it would be clearer if it was written TEAMarcia so you could see the team in front of my name. When I started this blog odyssey I was in the throes of training for my first Boston Marathon. As you probably know, none of us trains in a vacuum. Putting the TEAM before my name is my way of recognizing all who support, encourage, commiserate, and celebrate with me on this amazing journey. From family, friends, sports docs, coaches, everyone, it truly takes a village. Above you’ll see my homies, in a rare instance, all gussied up.
