While this blog turns 5 years old this month, the MHS Facebook page is but a baby, little more than a year or 2 old?? (go me for keeping track–ha!) Despite it’s youth, I’ve come to enjoy those who check in regularly, especially for our morning banter. We whine about weather (of course) talk workouts, eats, etc. Right before we rang in 2014, I asked my friends over there for their favorite running or fitness products of 2013. They did not disappoint. Many of these are new to me. I’ll share mine at the end. You knew I would, right?
Wendy loves the Feetures Plantar Fasciitis Sleeve.
Kim loves PRO Compression socks and wireless headphones. I’ve never gone wireless, maybe I need to…
Tina voted for CEP compression sleeves, ininji socks, IcebreakerNZ base layers and any of the colorful tops from Run Pretty Far.
Sara loves her Nike GPS watch.
Tink voted for the Sennheiser PMX 60 Adidas behind the neck headphones.
Me? I love a lot of things but for me the best product innovation of 2013….drumroll please…
The boob pad (or shall I say removable bra cup?)! Granted they were invented before 2013…I think Handful Bra was a trail blazer here. Now many workout tops come with removable bra cups already inside. While I couldn’t care less what they might do to enhance the size of my A- chest, I very much love the prospect of No More Headlights! Plus they double as sponges at very hot races. Just fish in there and whip one out. Or freeze them before insertion and you’re cucumber cool on the hottest of runs. The possibilities are endless. Ok, kidding, I don’t freeze them or fish them out….but I may have entertained it. Now if I could just get my act together enough to return them to my tops after laundering rather than harboring them in a cosmetics case….but we all know I am no organizing guru, right?
What is your running/fitness “product of the year”?

Ok, I am laughing right now b/c I never, ever thought of those as a way to prevent headlights! I always remove them b/c I find them just to be a big pain, but now…may have to rethink it! Brilliant.

I love the idea of freezing the pads;)
Heather (Where's the Beach) says
LOL – see, I hate the removable pads b/c when you wash them you they fall out and you have to stuff them back in!
Marcia says
Heather I take them out and wash them separately. But yes, the stuffing back in part kind of blows.

Haha I used to never buy a top that had those boob inserts, because if they think I want padded bras to work out in, they must not be a serious workout top, but now, this freezing idea to keep my girls cool, interesting! Although, I have many many months before I can test this out!
Kari @ Running Ricig says
I’m with Miss Zippy. I always take them out, but now I might have to rethink it.
I don’t really know that I tried any new gear this year, so I don’t have any favorites.
MILF Runner says
Headlights are hot. Why would you want to hide them? Headlights and camel toe always get a bum rap.
Kim says
This was funny – I don’t have the Hand-ful Bras but a lot of my bikinis have those weird pads. I always take them out because they end up weird and lumpy and we don’t want that!!!

I don’t run unless I am being chased (and even then I have to think twice about it) but I am loving my FitBit. It really inspires me to be more active. I find myself parking farther away from stores, taking the stairs more, and doing 5 or 10 extra minutes on the elliptical just to get my stats up. That’s a win for me! –Lisa

My favourite running product of the year would have to be Dynamic Tape. I know that it’s not a new thing but I tried it for the first time this year and it kept me running through some niggles while I was training for the marathon.

my lulu run swiftly tops. i’ve had some of them for 4 years now and they STILL look brand new. worth every $$.
Jill says
OMG, that is too funny about freezing the pads…only you, Louise!
I have to say my favorite 2013 running piece were my Hokas. 🙂
Mike says
My favorite product of the year is my first GPS watch, a Garmin Forerunner 620.
For the cooling pads to work, there would need to be a way to recharge them on the fly or permanently keep them cool. Ice down the top is still probably the most practical for now, but someday there will be electronically cooled clothing.

I really enjoyed my Opedix running tights – the K-Tape in place is a great idea
Tina G says
HA! I so do NOT need any boob help. I need them to GO AWAY!
EB @Running on E says
Haha.. I dont think I’ve ever used a top with the bra cups in them. I will have to check.
