- I recently did a closet purge. This included the running apparel drawers, which have become somewhat stuffed lately. Buuuut I couldn’t bring myself to get rid of some things. So I relegated them to a closet in the basement where I keep off-season stuff. Kind of an unused clothing purgatory. I suspect after enough time has passed I’ll be able to part with them…maybe…
- I never liked the Garmin 210 I got not quite 2 years ago. It turns off at races, plays dead and, while I appreciated the teal accents back in the day, there are so many prettier (purple) ones out there now. Plus I’ve yet to locate the heartrate monitor strap. Other than that it works just fine so it would be frivolous of me to get a new one.
- I am coveting this Garmin 220. Mmmmm purple. They claim there’s a coach inside. Think it’ll swear at me when I’m slow? Shame on me for wanting this when there are runners starving in Africa with no Garmin at all.
- I badly want a pair of capris or tights in a fun pattern. But I’ve heard complaints that some are not soft and of poor elasticity/quality. Now I’m afraid to buy any online without fondling them first.
- Although I was a regular in the free weight area of the gym back when I had a trainer, now that I’m returning to being a tad more hardcore about weight training, I’m feeling shy about hanging out there. I need somebody to give me a shove. I know meatheads don’t bite.
- I ordered a new trail shoe a couple weeks ago since my current ones are circa 2009. I attempted to try on and purchase a pair at a local running store but the one person working there who was not busy decided it was more important to put away hangers than wait on me. (Sorry I forgot this wasn’t a rant post). So I stayed with my BFF brand and ordered Mizuno Wave Ascends online at a blowout price. Well a week later the place emailed to tell me those were no longer available and offered to replace them with Brooks Ghost GTX that cost almost double for the same price. They’re purple. So I strayed. Oh the guilt. I hope I like them…or I may be regifting.
- It is my birthday tomorrow. Even though I am gluten-free and trying to cut down on sugar, I am still hoping for cake, which, if you’ve been reading for awhile you know is not guaranteed.
Do you have trail shoes you like? Tights in fun patterns? Do you regift? I feel better already. Any runfessions to share? Spill ’em!

I am guilty of having a working Garmin (the bulky 305) but coveting the new 220. A little birdie couldn’t keep his mouth shut, and I think I might be getting it for Christmas! Gah!
I’m into the patterned tights, too. I’ve seen some cute Nike ones at Dicks Sporting Goods, and I think they tend to be consistent with feel/stretch.

I have some patterned nike tights (capris) but uhh they slide down while I run. And it’s not because they’re too big. In my opinion they’re too “stiff” so then they don’t stretch as easily and therefore slide down. (always the desired look while running, no?). The Nike ones are the Core Pro. I also have some from Spandits! which I love (and don’t fall down) in the Navajo pattern.

I just got some new patterned tights – Brooks. Love them. Hard to go wrong with Brooks apparel, but I know what you mean about wanting to feel the fabric. I’m a compulsive fabric feeler LOL
Jamie @ couchtoironwoman says
I hope you love your new trail shoes!! Yay trail running!
And your line about “fondling” the capris made me laugh!
Kari @ Running Ricig says
Happy Birthday tomorrow!!!
If you find cool patterned tights that you love, please post about them. I really want some, too!

I wish I had enough training clothes to put some downstairs.
If you don’t like the shoes you can send them to the starving runners. ๐
I love helpful sales people. :p

Oh my gosh, my running wish list is a mile long! Now that I am no longer pregnant, I am definitely coveting some fun running tights and new shoes!
Elle says
HAPPPPPPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope you have a wonderful day and that you have a DELICIOUS cake! May all your birthday wishes come true.

I have the 305 that I love, but I want the 910 so I could use it in the pool!
I need new trail running shoes, I can’t seem to commit.

I always love your runfessions! I too am coveting a pair of patterned tights–a pair that Athleta HAD but no longer HAS. Makes me sad. And trust me, getting rid of old workout wear is good. Mr. Zippy ran a race on Saturday in a pair of 20-yr. old blue running tights. I was a bit mortified.

I just got a Garmin this past May and sort of wish I had one of the new ones but I can’t justify it since I don’t even need a Garmin on the treadmill. And I love the patterned tights/capris but don’t have any because I’m afraid they will make my already wide hips look even wider!!!

My only running tights are black and that’s how it’ll stay. No one wants to see bright patterns stretched across MY ass. I shuddered a little just thinking of it.
I don’t love my Garmin (405cx?) but don’t dis-love it enough to covet another one that might also irritate me. I do love the Garmin Edge 500 on my bike.
My trail shoes are Brooks Cascadias, and I loooove them.
And I’m starting up weight training with a class in January. I, too, need someone to take my hand and pull me back into the free weights section.

My running tights are black and they match with everything. I just bought myself the Garmin 620 and I love it. It gives you so much running dynamics and I love numbers. I really want to try trail running in 2014 and I have heard that Brooks Cascadias are pretty good.

Happy Birthday! I hope the day’s filled with good stuff like purple Garmins.

Happy birth birthday!
I wish I could recommend trail shoes. Mine are a half size too small so I really can’t tell if I like them or not.
I’m hoping for a new Garmin for Christmas

Runfessions: I have way more pairs of running shoes than I could ever need. And I keep buying more. For trail I’d recommend the Cascadia over the Ghost…not sure if it comes in purple but I have an awesome green/orange pair. I also purge my run gear…when the drawers get too stuffed to open. I only wear the gear on the top, then wash, return to drawer, and repeat. I only wear black tights as I have v. muscular legs and don’t need to draw any more attention to them! Have a wonderful birthday!

Ooh Marcia, I’ve got the trainer for you! Message me via email if you are interested! I’ve been working with her, once/week, for about 6 months and am seeing good results.

Happy Birthday tomorrow!
I broke down and bought my first Garmin last week. I feel like the last runner to get one. I splurged (using Christmas money) and went with the 620. I’m liking the built in Wi-Fi with automatic upload.
Let us know how you like the Ghost trail shoes. The Cascadia’s I just bought are only my second ever pair of trail shoes and first ever Cascadia’s. I bought them just because I’ve heard good things about them. I like them better than my Under Armour Spine’s so far. Not sure I like the drainage on the Cascadia’s since it seems like the holes are on the bottom and wide enough for snow to get jammed up in them resulting in wet feet. On the flip side, they are probably great in rain and running through creeks.

Happy Birthday! I regift. I wouldn’t fear the gym. The more I am there (since, I am working part time at a gym now), the more I realize there are a TON of friendly regulars there! The Salomon XR Mission are good trail shoes and I use them often.
Amanda says
Hope you had a great Birthday! I re gift my running shoes. I go through them so much and I has friends that love taking them off my hands. So they can still benefit from them! But other than that I do t re gift all that often.
Debbie @ Healthy Running Mom says
Happy Early Birthday.
I heard that Nothing Bundt Cakes is great! You should try one tomorrow! Enjoy!

Happy Belated Birthday!
I have had great luck with the FILA brand tights from Kohls and Xersion from JCP. ๐ I bet Nike works well, as someone else, said.
Go hit up those weights! You know what you are doing! Get back there! ๐
That is too bad you went to a store and needed help and were ignored ๐
