1. I effed up. You know I like to stalk the “We made too much” section of the Lululemon site in hopes of paying too much for workout wear instead of obscenely way too much. Imagine my delight when I scored this sweet tank. I got it, wore it (once) loved it, then ever so carelessly failed to segregate it from my darker colors of workout clothes in the trusty OxyClean presoak bucket. The result? My formerly zippy green tank is now dingy and tired looking with gasp! areas of rusty orange discoloration. I know, painful. No amount of soaking, shouting, scrubbing or stain dancing has had any effect. I know better than to integrate Lulu lights and darks, but it happened. Goes to show what falling in with the wrong crowd will do. In classic Lulu style, it’s final sale. Sigh. What would you do? Trash it? Wear it when no one’s looking? (I know I won’t). I’m entertaining the prospect of dying it. Maybe darker green or navy or black. Would this work? Any experience with fabric dying?
2. Conspiracy theory? Is there some kind of competition among grocery store baggers to cram as much stuff into one reusable bag, making it as heavy as possible, so you tear a bicep hefting it while your extras sit there folded up empty? If I bring one bag but buy more stuff than will fit, they jam it in one. Two or three bags? They jam it one. Silly me to be irritated: today the cashier actually tried to charge me for my reusable bags. It’s all relative, isn’t it?
3. Mosquitoes. In the house. Overnight. A special kind of hell.
What are your first world problems? Have you ever worked at a grocery store?
Rachelle Q says
I never remember to bring my reusable bags to the grocery store but the times I have brought them, they always fill them too full and they are way too heavy! Sorry about your tank:(
Kari @ Running Ricig says
Our grocery store has a thing where you can scan everything you put in your cart as you go. Then you just swipe your card at the end and check out. You bag as you go so you don’t worry about baggers trying to kill you. It’s pretty fantastic.
My sister used to dye clothes all the time, but it was usually cottons, so I don’t know if what she did would work on tech fabric. She used those Rit dyes you can get at wal-mart or craft stores.
Karen@ La Chanson de Ma Vie says
It is really REALLY hard to dye technical fabrics. I think it is probably better off the way it is.
Kovas - Midwest Multisport Life says
It rained on me while I was running today – I got wet. Is that a first world problem or not actually a problem? 🙂
misszippy1 says
That sucks (the Lulu and mosquitos). I would definitely try dye–what have you got to lose?
Here we have stink bugs. They are everywhere when the temp changes, so suffice it to say, our house is overwhelmed with them.
And I think I always have the opposite experience with baggers–I feel like they will put one item/bag and call it a day. Drives me crazy!
Marcia says
MZ I feel like they do the one-item-per-bag thing when I DON’T use my resuables. Then I drag home a slew of plastic.
Jody - Fit at 55 says
I am so weird about the way things are bagged! I bring my own & usually bag myself.. honestly – it is not rocket science to separate meat from veggies & other stuff & put delicate things away from jars & cans & things that are heavy! Drives me crazy! 🙂
Marcia says
Jody I don’t think it’s weird! Just common sense!
Amanda @runtothefinish says
I totally missed out on the lulu section, but I think that’s good. I have to stop shopping for workout gear.
OH NO mosquitoes eat me alive!!
Char says
Unfortunately I think you should trash the top. Clean and quick. It’ll hurt but not as much as seeing it in it’s less than pristine state every time you go to pull it out of the drawer.
DebbyH says
Please dont laugh, but I have a question about your presoak bucket! MY workout clothes are starting to have a horrible stench!!! How long do you let your clothes soak in the prewash? ie..do you throw them in and let them soak til laundry day? or just a few hours before washing? Im desperate!! I cant buy new clothes every couple of months….
Marcia says
Debbie I totally understand! I soak them in water with a scoop of OxyClean for a few hours before putting them in the washer. If you wanted them to sit there til laundry day, that would work too. Then make sure you never put them in the dryer.

HOLD THE PHONE!!!! There is a “we made too much” section on the LULULEMON website?!?!?!??!?!??!?!?!?! I am going now. My wallet officially hates you though, LOL!!! 😉
Jill says
I just said to Abbey two minutes ago, “When the hell is fly season over with, I’m sick of those little shits in my house!” Yeah…such a great mom.
Kim says
My problem with the baggers at the grocery store is that no matter how carefully I put like stuff together – they sort it. I always end up with some produce mixed with canned goods, on thing of cheese in the snack/misc/whatever they mixed together bag – I don’t get it!! (and I was a checker for years in college – not that hard!)
Tink says
Almost any green piece of clothing I have will inevitably get the orange rust spots. Why does this happen!?!?!
Laura @ Mommy Run Fast says
Ugh on the shirt! I have the opposite bagger problem- they don’t fill mine up and then start pulling out their plastic bags which I don’t want!
lindsay says
I always forget to bring my reusable bags so they just hang on the hook in my kitchen as decoration….. Sigh. As for lulu, I do not see the appeal of buying 1 pair of shorts for the price of 2-3 (or more) elsewhere. If I paid that much for workout clothes I would not want to sweat in them!! I did dye my wedding dress, it wasn’t hard. It was a polyester blend of some sort. I’d maybe go for an intentional tyedye effect or something in case it comes out uneven…
Mike says
I hate when the bagger at the grocery store asks if I need help to my car. Really? I just ran X miles and you think I need help? Well, maybe I do look that way after long runs :-).
