Today I’m linking up with Amanda, aka MissZippy and sharing what may be my favorite run.
It starts at sunrise by stepping out my front door. I super love when I don’t need to drive somewhere to run. This run is an 8 mile out and back along quiet country roads. Join me?
We’re on our way just as the sun rises…
…ahead of the heat, at least for awhile…
…ribbons of fog still nestled in the pastures.
Not even the horses are awake. I’d tell you how much I’d love to have a horse or three in these stables someday soon.
Shafts of sunlight dance through the trees. It’s serene and meditative. Ironically this route is the hilliest one I run. The first 4 miles are net uphill, including this whopper:
Ok maybe it’s not a whopper. But I may be queen of the hill weenies. After the whopper though, the rest of the hills seem trivial. It’s all relative isn’t it?
The last 4 miles include flying down that sucker. Always a treat.
This route is especially great in summer, because it’s partially shaded. Beautiful in fall, as long as you wear hi-viz clothing and don’t mind gunshots in the distance…hunting season afterall. In winter, snow and ice make it treacherous.
The stunning beauty and solitude of the route distract from the agony of the hills. Our run is complete before the heat, traffic and the rest of the world even stirs.
Tell me about your favorite run: Is it in the city? Country? On trails?
Im not a runner—but the sunrise WALKS?
UNPARALLELED here too.
LOVE seeing the sunrise on various running routes – pretty!
That sunrise is gorgeous!! I’m looking forward to having some hills to run in the northeast!
I love this–the variety from one part of the country to another makes this really fun. Beautiful scenery you have to indulge in while running!
Loving these posts & pics – the beauty!!!
For me, in Hawaii at sunrise – nothing like those runs for me! 🙂
What beautiful pictures! I would love to go on your favorite run with you. It is so different from the desert beauty of mine. Except that the first half of my favorite run is also uphill. 🙂
Wow, that sunrise is beautiful! My favorite run is the route I usually take through a park near my home. It’s full of shade, great trails & hills, a rose garden (with smiling seniors gardening), a dog park with friendly bouncing dogs, a kiddie park with lots of little children laughing, and rich in diversity with people from all over the world – coming to play soccer, walk, run – all speaking different languages, but still communicating!
Pretty photos! I love running anywhere really, I love seeing new sights.
Your favorite run is way prettier than any of the runs by my house!
I’d say my favorite run is probably my 15 mile route because it takes me all over. I get to go on back roads by farms and in the woods and also down by the ocean.
those are gorgeous pictures! i’d love to run that road too. and hills never photograph well… they never turn out looking as bad as they feel! deceiving! 🙂
Your favie run is beautiful. I can post pictures galore of the vast mountains I run, and they are breath-taking, but I’m an Iowa girl at heart and I love how serene and rural your run is. Makes me miss home (for about 10 minutes :)).
Love the pictures! Seeing the sun come up is the best part of those early morning runs!!! Glad that we beat the heat and traffic on the run since some people don’t like to pull over on those roads (at least around here that happens!).
gorgeous photos!
my favorite is on a trail here during fall when the leaves are changing and the temp is perfect.
Ugh, that hill looks like a whopper to me 😉 Gorgeous views!
Aaah! I enjoyed that run vicariously. I almost feel like I’ve been on holiday.
That sounds like a beautiful run and thank you for sharing the gorgeous pictures! Living in NYC, my favorite runs are either in Prospect Park in Brooklyn or along the waterfront.
Gorgeous! And what are you talking about? If its not downhill…its uphill!
So pretty! Thanks for taking me along. I love it when I don’t have to drive to run, too.
Pretty route. I like to go to Colonial Williamsburg to walk/run. Beautiful plantings to look at, interesting tourists to distract me, and blessedly flat. 🙂
