Day-to-day, I’m mostly I’m up to my eyeballs, cleaning up dog poop, shuttling kids to playdates, hanging at the pool, weeding the garden and various other domestic engineering duties of questionable glamour.
Last night I left my mundane housewife/mom duties behind and headed downtown for the Verizon Time Shift Party. It felt good to be in the city: for once not wearing Mizunos and a race bib. I pounded this pavement for years as a college student and as a working professional. Time (and many dirty diapers), has passed since then, but yet, it was still so familiar.
Thursday nights are still free at the Art Institute. The lions still stand sentry at the entrance.
The Verizon party was on the rooftop of the Piano Modern Wing, overlooking Millennium Park. If you’re an Instagram friend, you already know the awesomeness I brought home. Verizon has raised the bar on party favors for sure.
Because I am married to the world’s finest Caveman, he scored me an awesome hotel on Hotwire. Hotel Monaco. A cute, quirky boutique just a block off the mag mile. Think Leopard and Zebra print bathrobes. If you know me, you know my affinity for lightning fast cats.
Apparently I took the requisite hotel selfie before donning the leopard robe.
The fun did not end there. There was yoga in Millennium Park bright and early, sponsored by Yasso Greek Yogurt, Athleta, Equinox Fitness and more.
Having just recently returned to a pain-free state with my torn rotator cuff, I was worried I’d reinjure it. I took the shoulder stretches verrrry easy. Thankfully all ended well.
I think I’m most excited about finally having a yoga sling. Until now, I’ve been a bumbling idiot with my yoga mat. All too soon I was quick-stepping the mile or so to the train, homeward bound, overnight bag and swag in tow. It was a fun, fitness-filled break from the kids, er I mean ‘field trip’ for sure.
Have you taken blog-related ‘field trips’? Attended blog conferences?

I’m not on Instagram and want to know what the goodie bag had in it. Sounds like fun!

I just threw my yoga mat in the trash; I had run over it too many times parking the garage. But in the midst of yoga mat purging, I also finally cleaned one side of the garage – you’d be impressed! 🙂
I’m glad you had a nice time in town with all the fun gigs. I smile when I think about the torment you had whether to go or not :).
You look ADORABLE!!!
Miss you tons!

Sounds like a fun weekend. No husband, kids or responsibilities. That’s worth its weight in gold.

I don’t think I’ve taken any real blog related trips, unless you count racing. Sounds like you had an awesome weekend!
I can’t wait to try out the pedometer on Bungee!!
