Finally, finally finally it’s starting to slowly warm up! School ended and in the blink of an eye, um…this happened:
Thing 1 went from 6th grade finisher, to jetting off…by herself…to SC to spend time with her grandparents. Breathe in. Breathe out. Saying goodbye was tough. Time flies.
For now we’re a single-child household.
Thing 2 and I will have our own fun while she’s gone.
We hit up the driving range for the third time in as many weeks. Once an avid golfer, I put the irons in mothballs once the girls were born. Now that they’re no longer babies, I’m slowly getting back to it, although my swing is not quite ready for prime time. Soon though. Thing 2 seemed to enjoy washing the clubs more than actually swinging them.
My runs this past week have been crappy and sluggish. Still feeling fatigued from last weekend’s half. I’ve been running sans Garmin and not putting pressure on myself. It’s better that way right now. I also think allergies are flaring since I’ve been runny/itchy throat/sneezing but it’s not a cold. I’m spending more time strength training and doing HIIT workouts. That is going well.
Have life changes (like career, kids, etc) caused you to give up/postpone hobbies?

Fun to learn that you were a golfer! I’d think it would be a great thing to share with kids if they are into it.
This allergy season seems particularly brutal around here this year…

Allergy season was awful this year. It’s over for the most part. Doing a lot of that breathe in and out – just in thinking about sending my daughter off to college in September! They grow up so fast!

Oh gosh, I’ll be a basket case when college rolls around!

It’s hard watching our kiddos go off without us. My youngest just hot back from taking a family vacation to Colorado with his dad and my in-laws that, for a variety of reasons, I wasn’t a part of. Definitely hard to have your baby so far away, even knowing he’s happy and in good hands.
In my case, I had my kids do young that I didn’t really have any hobbies of my own to postpone. I’ve just been developing some in the past few years.

Thanks for the reminder about the virtual race! I just signed up- and have one entry.

Yup allergies, story of my life. I’ve got the itchy eyes/sore throat combo so bad this morning that I think it HAS to be a cold, but I bet it isn’t going to progress like a cold. Grrr…

A little one-on-one time with Thing 2 will be really fun…maybe Thing 1 will even come home and appreciate you more? Just a hope, perhaps :).
Last time I golfed was in college. I took the class because I needed one more credit to graduate and it was the only thing that fit in the time slot I got. It was the only C I got in college – ha!
My allergies are on code level RED right now, ugh. I told Tara in Boise I could run half way decently if I could magically get rid of this crap. Until then, I’ll slug away at some pretty decent crappy miles. Hang in there, Louise!

So cool that you used to golf – I’ve tried to learn but never been super successful. I like to go (we make our own little 4-some) as long as I can walk (my husband prefers the cart). I usually just hit my ball, run up to it, hit it….I’m sure they love me at the golf courses!!
Have a great week getting in extra time with your youngest!!
Oh, and I guess the thing I gave up when I had babies was working (teaching) – I don’t miss it at all now!!!

We were a single child household this weekend too but I don’t think it’s the same when your children are all adults.

So impressed that you run without your Garmin! No matter how many times I tell myself, it doesn’t matter- My “head” still plays games with me & I have that need to see my speed while running! Enjoy your time with your little one! Thank goodness the weather has finally gotten better!!!!!!!! Enjoy!

What an exciting adventure for Thing 1! I know its scary for you, but what a great opportunity for her to see she can fly all by herself! Great idea with running Garmin-less, sometimes I wish I could remove the clocks from the track so I wouldn’t know and just enjoy.

I’ve never been into golf, but my mom, dad and brother all like it! My brother played golf in high school, he was actually pretty good. My mom and dad still play and they love it!

Wow! What a great time! Both of the girls getting some just me time is so great. Although, I’d be a little bit freaking about going on the plane by herself.
I saw the picture of Thing 2 playing golf on Instagram I think. She’s adorable and looks like she’s having so much fun!

Thing 2 is adorable!!!! I hope you are recouped & feeling better soon – I have the allergy crap too – UGH!!
I have given up a lot over time due to life & stepkids & all but it all works out in the end. 🙂
