Wow this time of year is SO busy! I find myself saying “if I can just make it through today…”
Good:
- Weather has been gorgeous. Spring has sprung at last! We hit the links for the first time in ages.
- Track season is over! Thing 1’s team captured the conference championship and they’re being recognized by the board of education this week…yes another event to go to…but a good one!
- Thing 1’s final concert of the year was last week.
- We walked to end Lupus on Sunday. I ran Chicago 2010 on the Lupus Charity team. It was fab. They still have coveted Chicago marathon spots available if you’re interested.
- I’ve been squeezing in workouts. Mostly biking and strength training/corework.
Bad:
- Several more volunteer obligations await before school’s out. Must learn to say no.
- We still have a lingering bug. The stomach flu a couple of weeks ago morphed into lingering colds. While Thing 1 is almost over it, Thing 2 is home with me again, I suspect an ear infection.
- I haven’t had a decent run or made it to the gym since the Wisconsin Half two weeks ago. This lack of running should make the Soldier Field 10-miler on Saturday very interesting, not in a good way.
- Track season may be over but now we’re in the thick of ice show rehearsals.
Ugly:
- Shoulder pain is still nagging. I haven’t been able to run more than a half mile before it hurts.
- I did not run the 5k I had scheduled for this weekend. Trying to let the shoulder and lungs rest up.
- Caveman and I are both profoundly tired, congested, stressed.
How do you juggle everything at busy times of year?

It is a busy time of year. I confess that I don’t like going into school on weekends a lot but at this time of year it keeps happening. Spent time there yesterday when I would rather have been biking…reading..relaxing. You name it. Congrats to Thing 1! My good – my Sat. bike ride. Bad – Way too much to do at work. At the moment no ugly and I hope it stays that way. Hope you get rid of your bads and uglies!

I totally feel you on May. It is the hardest month when you have school-aged kids. And being sick on top of it all? THAT’s rough!
I have a clarinet player too, but his concert is still two weeks off–the same night as his soccer tryouts, of course!
Get us to summer, right!

I hear you. It’s tough and I only mostly have myself and hubs to think about (kids are with us every other weekend). and it seems to never stop. and I feel like everyone wants a piece of me. friends (love them) want to makes dates but how offputting is it when you say “well, I’m busy up until the first week of July…”
just don’t forget to breathe. and so the 10miler will be interesting, that’s ok. do your best at that moment, that’s what counts.

Juggle it.. hmm somedays I’m ready to fun away! One day at a time and good sleep always helps
Kari @ Running Ricig says
I feel your non-running pain. I didn’t run last week and I’m hoping to start back up today, but I live in fear of not being healed and having to take more time off.
I’ve been stressed out and I turned to baking. You should see the all of the breads and muffins I’ve been making. It makes me very popular with friends when I give them away, though.

HOLY CRAP! I am exhausted reading this!!! So sorry for all the bugs & sickness AND your shoulder – ๐ I hope for better days for you!!!
Laura @ Mommy Run Fast says
May is one of the craziest months for us, too! Hang in there- sorry about the shoulder. ๐ That’s so frustrating.

Cold w/ congestion here too (me, and both kids!), and very busy with the end of kindergarten. The kids are *tired* and I know they need a break, but I’m not looking forward to losing my free Thursdays and Fridays! I fear all this has made me a rather lame member of our team. :^)
I hope that shoulder heals up. Fingers are crossed for you!

Wow, that’s a lot going on especially when you aren’t feeling well:( One day at a time. My son is home sick today as well and my entire family has some sort of virus, bronchitis maybe. It’s going around here. I can’t wait until school is out and we can just relax and enjoy summer!
Kim says
I’m so sorry that y’all’s germs didn’t get the “end of season” memo!! I hear you on the business – this past weekend was packed and I thought I would catch up today but it is 1:30 and still very little has been accomplished!!
That shoulder thing totally sucks!!! So ironic that it’s an upper body injury and yet it is totally getting in the way of you being able to run. I hope that by this time next week you have a list of only Good!!!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
You know I’m so with you on the WAY too many things to juggle bandwagon! I’m sorry you’re dealing with everyone feeling under the weather on top of it all! I just keep repeating “there’s light at the end of the tunnel!” Have you had your shoulder checked out?
Jamie @ couchtoironwoman says
Looks like gorgeous weather!
Ugh, I’m so sorry that your shoulder is still bothering you! That sucks!
Char says
That shoulder is supposed to be better now. I’ve been sending healing vibes your way. Maybe the distance is diluting their power. Hope you’re feeling all back to normal soon.
And thanks for reminding me that I’m glad my kids are out of school. I don’t miss that kind of crazy busy.
cynthia says
it made me happy you walked to end lupus. I have seen it up close and personal and it’s a sneaky little bastard. (pardon my French). hopefully things will slow down for you. When i get busy – i take and nap and all seems better.
Gaye says
So sorry your shoulder isn’t cooperating. On the plus side, you LOOK fabulous! Pink is a great color on you.

Congrats to Thing 1! It’s a shame your shoulder’s bugging you now, you need to running to help with all the schedule stress! I hope it heals up really quick.
Scott says
Before you know it, it will be summer break
Hope the shoulder feels better soon

Busy is always tough. I find certain things (like internet time) wind up being the first to go. I’m sorry that shoulder is still bugging you – I hope it heals up ASAP!
