First the workouts:
- Monday: Sweat your nuts off yoga. Ok it’s really hot vinyasa flow yoga. This is that hard class I whined about. It isn’t as hard anymore. Go me.
- Tuesday: Thought I had 2(4x400m). Did 6x400m then ran out of time. Actual workout was 2(6x400m). Whoops.
- Wednesday: Barbell strength class
- Thursday: Tempo run. Legs were cooked from the day before.
- Friday: Hill interval spin, upper body weights/core
- Saturday: 8 miles. Goal was 20 secs. slower than race pace. Actual was 11 secs slower. Still doubting I can hold race pace though.
- Sunday: Rest
Are you sitting down? I’m finally RACING this weekend! Since I DNS’d that frozen trail fiasco in February this will be my first non-virtual race of the year. More importantly, there’s a runners’ egg hunt afterward for which I’ve been training hard: squats, plyo….ok just kidding, sort of. So far the weather for Saturday looks pretty good….
Bloglovin. Since Google Reader is going away, (which I was crappy about using anyway) I was inspired by my Chicago Running peeps and checked out Bloglovin. The verdict? I like it! I’m loading up my favorite reads there and encourage you to do the same. I added an icon over in the top right side bar if you are so inclined.
Blogger Meetup: On Sunday some of us Chicago Running Bloggers got together to eat, talk about blogs, eat, share swag and did I say eat? It was lots of fun and we need to do this more often. Special thanks to Kelly for hosting!
Top, left Me, Emily, Maggie, Erica, Katie. Bottom Kelly and Napoleon, Lauren. Thanks to Alissa for taking the pic!
What are you grateful for this week? Do you ever have family stress?
Emily says
Marcia! It was so good to see you this past Sunday! I am glad to hear that things went okay with the Seder because I know how stressful some of these family functions can be. What did you end up doing with the vegetable dish that your MIL asked you to prepare!?!?
Heather (Where's the Beach) says
Good luck on the upcoming race AND super fun on the blogger meet up!
Karen says
I live over 1,000 mi from any family so holidays are pretty uneventful. We don’t have to figure out who to see on Easter, Christmas, or Thanksgiving. Lonely sometimes, but also has its perks.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Yep my family stress is coming up in the form of Easter! Glad you made it through Seder with your MIL.
Good luck this weekend!
Marcia says
Emily it was great seeing you again! I made broccoli with a honey-sesame dressing that turned out awesome. I’ll share the recipe soon!
Jamie @ couchtoironwoman says
Yay for racing!! I love it so much, but we’ve been pretty tame so far this year just three races. We have three (really two weekends, though) scheduled for April!
I just joined Bloglovin, I’m still holding on to Google Reader for now though.

I love your MIL tales! Do keep them coming.
Great that yoga is getting easier. I really, really need to get back at it one of these days.
Have fun racing this weekend!
Mandy says
That is crazy about your MIL!! How on earth does that make sense at all??
I need to get back at Yoga. I need to touch my toes again.
Kim says
Fun that you get together with local running bloggers!
We don’t have many family get-togethers (even at holidays).
Thanks for sharing the Bloglovin link – I might try it!
Katie @ Live Half Full says
I’m glad you joined this week! And, I’m glad you survived the holiday! Did you use truffle salt suggestion?
Marcia says
Katie I did not get my lazy behind to the store so just worked with what i had in the house. Broccoli with a honey/sesame dressing. It was a hit!
Kari @ Running Ricig says
That race sounds freaking amazing. Maybe I’ll make my mom hide candy in her lawn for me to search for after our 15 miler on Saturday.
Marcia says
Kari you NEED to have a post long run egg hunt!
Cecilia @MommiesRun says
Whoa that’s a haul for your MIL! We had seder last night at our close family friend’s and it was wonderful. Very relaxed. Tonight is at my parent’s house. My mom promised me a “clean eating” seder! Happy Passover!
Char says
You’re so prepared for Easter. I never thought to do any lower body work to get my muscles strong enough for an Easter egg hunt. Now I’ll only have myself and my lack of forethought to blame if I tear a muscle bending over to pick up a caramello egg.
Barbara says
Oooh, I’m going to check out Bloglovin’ because Feedly isn’t working well.
Never have done hot yoga….well, unless yoga during August in Oklahoma counts. 😉
Erica says
I should go back and add that I am grateful for my MIL and stepmother in law and all of my other dysfunctional family members! (Is there anyone who doesn’t have family stress?!)
I am sharpening my elbows for the egg hunt! I will be envious of your fresh legs 🙂
Tink says
How longs the race? Do I have family stress…yeesh, my in-laws are Greek, need I say more?
Gaye says
Congrats on the hard class getting easier! Funny how that works huh? 🙂

I am going to give the bloglovin a try. I am just lazy about making changes to things!
Also, I think sweat your nuts off yoga is a much better way to explain it!!!
Jody - Fit at 55 says
OMG on the MIL!! We always had so much food as a kid – enough to feed any army & she drags that across country!! HOLY CRAP! I am married to a non Jewish guy so never had this issue! 🙂
Good luck this weekend!
Suzanne says
Good luck with your race coming up this weekend!

Great workout week. I still don’t get the whole 6x400m thing but I’m trying. I really want to hit a ten minute mile befor the Shamrock Shuffle. Although, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to keep it up for five miles.
I really like getting my blog reads in the email. I guess I’m just old fashioned that way. 🙂
