Miles
- Run: 60. I needed 65 miles to hit 1000 for the year, which I hit yesterday so booya!
- Bike 30.
Races: 0
I may not have raced but that doesn’t mean I did not add to my stash of bling. This sparkly Rock n Roll series ‘heavy medal’ arrived the other day. Me likey!
Shame-Inducing Guilty Pleasure
Caramel Apple Almonds: They’re sweet, tangy, crunchy, addictively delicious and they need to go away before I eat my weight in them.
Triumphs
- 8 Yoga classes: I finally found the one I love
- Survived 2-day food and juice detox and have kept off 2 of the 3.8 lbs lost
- Survived Thanksgiving at the inlaws with no murders and no weight gain
While our indoor holiday decor is minimal so far, I did manage to drag the kids on our annual nature hike, snipping pine boughs and whatever these red sticks are for the outdoor planters.
The caveman also surprised me with some totally unsolicited hanging of outdoor lights. Blame it on the balmy weather. It may be a tad Griswaldian but who’s complaining? Not I.
Goals for December
- Continue with gluten/soy-free diet
- Keep the exercise momentum as much as possible, including thru winter break
- Attempt to bake some gluten-free holiday goodies. I hunted/gathered some necessities. I swear I almost needed a 2nd mortgage on the house for that xantham gum.
Plank: I ever so boastfully told you recently I could hold a 10-minute plank. Alas that is no longer true. 5:45 was the best I could muster. I will work this month to regain plank strength!
How did November shake out for you? What’s in store for December?
Laura @ Mommy Run Fast says
Wow, 8 yoga classes is fantastic! And congrats on hitting 1,000 miles. I need to tally mine up, I’m not sure where I’m at for the year.
Um, a 5-something plank is still superhero length!
kilax says
Yay! Congrats on meeting your 1000 miles goal!!!
That is some SERIOUS blog. Love it!

Wow! a 10 min plank is amazing. We are completely decoration free. I’m out of sorts in our VA house. And tired from trying to manage two households. I hope I get my holiday butt in gear.
Those almonds look yummy. Did you make them? I’m off to search for a pin of a recipe.
Kate says
Our house rivals the Griswold’s house. My husband loves his holiday decorations, and in his mind more=better. Sigh. It does look pretty, especially in the snow (remember snow? I barely do).
Kari @ Running Ricig says
You can’t leave us hanging saying you have a griswoldian house and then no pictures!!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Oh I do like the bling! And those almonds sound good – Trader Joe’s? I need to find them 🙂
Scott says
I love the bling
Blue Diamond Natural makes 100 Calorie Almond packs, I have Cinnamon Brown Sugar, its so good
Jill says
I’m fairly certain I can hold a plank for 45 seconds – tops! You ARE a studly woman!
I got my bling the other day also. Not the crown with the purple sparkles (whaaa) but I did like it too. Brought a big smile to my face knowing we tackled the 2nd one together :).
Mailed your package today – hooray. I’ll email you later.
xoxo

1000 miles = Awesome!!!!
10 minute plank?!?! Yikes, that is incredible!!!
Andrea says
No murders is always a good thing! I would love the whole skinny on your MIL but I respect your right to not put it out there in public! I actually miss my MIL although she started out as the MIL from hell, she came around and we became really good friends.

i’m very curious about those almonds! November was a pretty decent month- some races, PRs, and now onto the holidays my last 12 in 2012 race! xantham gum is that expensive?? i’m not gluten free, but sometimes would like to try it out until i read the ingredients on the recipe. too lazy.
Christy @My Dirt Road Anthem says
I 5:45 plank is still something to boast about! impressive.
Carmel apple almonds do sound amazing!
Carilyn Johnson (@CarilynJohnson) says
5:45?! If you take off the first 5, then I’m with you 🙂 I still start shaking before I even hit a minute! Yikes! And I’m not even thinking about my end of the year round-up yet, cuz I know I’m WAY behind!
Elle says
That plank! VERY nice.
Yes, Xanthum gum is like gold, I agree.
Nice bling! Love that medal.
Have a great December.
Lisa J says
Xantham Gum does seem like it would be expensive, crazy how it costs more to eat healthy
my jaw dropped at a 10 min plank 5+ is still equally impressive.
Char says
Congratulations on the 1000 miles, the yoga classes, the weight loss and, last but not least, the lack of blood shed or other physical violence over Thanksgiving. I’m very proud of you.
Carli says
Oh, it is so easy to get caught up in all the baking goodies! It can be an expensive little hobby :).
I need to check how long I can hold a plank. I’m sure it’s no where near your time.
Looking forward to a wonderful December!
Coco says
Congrats on the 1000 miles! Yikes on the plank. I do sets of 30 sec planks. I can’t stand the tedium any longer than that!
Suzanne says
Congratulations on hitting 1000 miles for the year! That’s quite an accomplishment!
