Recently I had the opportunity to try out the brand-new Saucony Triumph 10.
Like rebels everywhere, I violated rule #1 of the runner’s code and cracked them out at the Zooma Great Lakes 5k. Yes I raced in a shoe I hadn’t even put my toes in before.
They were surprisingly light and very comfy inside. Immediately I sensed cushioning in the forefoot, which is nirvana to a forefoot striker like me. They handled that hilly race beautifully and carried me to a totally unexpected AG3.
Now that the Marine Corps Marathon is a fond memory. I’m freestyling it in my Triumphs: running whatever I feel like, without Garmin. Typically these runs range between 3 and 6 miles. So far nothing in the double digits. It’s the off-season afterall.
I’ve also worn my Triumphs to the gym quite a bit. They’ve seen action on the elliptical, some BodyPump, even kick boxing. That kickboxing instructor has muscles in her back I never knew existed….just saying.
Time will tell when I ramp back up to higher mileage, but so far the Saucony Triumph has been a star. Special thanks to Saucony for allowing me to test them out!

In other news:
We went to Thing 1’s 6th grade band concert last night. They were up for the National Anthem when I caught this gem. The middle girl has a broken leg and her friends are, well doing what friends do, and helping her balance sans crutches. In a world that can seem so cold and mean sometimes, and where girls this age often get a bad wrap, I found this touching. Here’s to special friends everywhere!

I’ve had fresh shoes on my feet on race day too. So far I’ve gotten lucky and been happy I did it.
Love that photo and the reminder that there really are a lot of great people around us. Too bad the sour apples draw so much attention.

I always break out a new pair for races – just seems like you want all that ‘freshness’ if you’re going to be that miserable ๐ Love the cute photo of the girls! It is so wonderful to see love and generosity.

I love your photo of the girls. It’s just exactly what women are all about – supporting each other (before they say something bitchy and they never speak again.)

The camaraderie in youth team sports is so incredibly powerful – and moving. I was bawling at Ryan’s XC awards banquet the other night when the coach showed a long slide show of the season and how each of these kids all embraced one another!
Mandy says
I’ve never run in a Saucony shoe, but since my current shoe is being retired, maybe I should look into it!
What a great picture of friends doing what friends should do!
