It’s so easy to slip into a workout rut. That’s why I’m always looking for new moves to keep things fresh and my body guessing. But with summer here and the kids home, I’m not looking to add another gym day. I like quick workouts I can sneak in at home, whenever. I did Shaun T’s Insanity-Inspired Circuit on a rest day, thinking it was just quick enough to be better than nothing but not enough to leave me wheezing and sore.
The verdict:
Quick? Yes. Just 7 exercises, 30 seconds each, cycle though 2 or 3 times. No equipment needed.
Easy? Not so much. This is quick but intense. The power jumps reduced me to a whimpering heap.
Results? My quads and behind were ground beef the next day, which tells me this is exactly what they need. Shaun T. and I will be spending some quality time together this summer.
Do you have a quick, go-to workout?
Did you enter my Vega giveaway?
my quick to go tends to be a hula hoop 🙂
silly? yes.
FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAB workout? YES YES YES
My quick go to workouts usually involve pumping out body weight exercises like squats, push ups, planks, tricep dips, burpees. I can make it as intense of a workout as I want depending on how I’m feeling that day.
I may have to check that out post-climb!! I don’t really have a quick go-to workout…I need one!
I don’t really have a quick workout. I tend to go hiking or a long walk on rest days. I guess that doesn’t really count, right?
I’ve been going to this cardio bootcamp which is an hour’s worth of Instanity…always kicks my butt. But I just quit because it was clear across town and I hated the hour commute. I need to find a good alternative….
I might have to check that out! We don’t usually do quick workouts but sometimes they are nice.
I want something that will turn me into shredded meat!! But I’m holding off until the back pain is entirely gone….just cardio and light weights for me…..Sigh….but I can’t really complain. Things are looking up!
i tried doing insantiy last year and it nearly killed me 🙂 I think my goal is after doing a few more weeks of zwows to give it a try again… i mean hello the mans ab’s!!
I so need to start P90X again. I’m just too lazy right now. I have too many things to do, that I don’t know where to start.
Great job surviving it!
I haven’t tried Insanity- I usually shy away from the short, intense workouts, but am realizing how beneficial they are, and with kids and summer time, short and intense is definitely the way to go some days. Nice work!
Congrats on getting it done! Recover well and bounce back strong. A 3-mile run is always a great way for me to recharge my batteries!
Um – I need a booty burning exercise!! I NEED to check this out. The dogs seem well equipped to call 911 should there be an emergency 🙂
My dog sits all crooked just like yours! Love it when his leg doesn’t fit under him. So cute.
Good job on the workout. Sounds like a good one.
This sounds like a good quick workout. I don’t have a quick go to workout but I do have a yoga DVD with 4 15-minute sessions that are pretty intense. My abs are always sore the day after I do the core session.
It’s been a while since I’ve had that exquisite pain that tells you that you’ve done something good for your body. Man, I miss it!
I have a living room workout – still working on composing that post and getting pics for a blog entry (I need someone to help snap photos, or a tripod for my camera/phone!). Plyometrics are where it’s at, though, even if they do turn my legs to rubber!
The Insanity Dvds are really tough! And when Shaun T starts commenting to the one girl in disbelief that she’s already sweating I wanted to smack him!
I will have to check this one out. Thanks
Fun, I will have to try this:)
