No NYCM for me. Which is perfect because I’m in for MCM the week before. MCM shares equal bucket-list status with NYCM so it’s all good. I really feel like I won’t be picked for NYC next year either and this is going to go to the 11th hour. Since I’m grandfathered in to the 4-year rule, I’ll be in by 2014 fo sho. It is what it is.
Phone scare: I was completely unmotivated to make it to my spin class on Wednesday. Somehow I summoned the strength to do so. I always put my phone in an iFitness belt up on the handle bars, as if I could hear it over the music. I got out to the car before I realized the school nurse had called because Thing 2 hit her head in gym. Ugh. What did we do before cell phones?
Stylish or stupid? I ripped a hole in the knee of my jeans the other day. Not on purpose, it had been gradually wearing thin. I know the intentionally ripped look goes for big money in stores….or do I look like a desperate mom trying to be cool?
First 5k of the year for me tomorrow! I’m still watchless but I’ve been feeling stronger (trust me that’s not saying much) so we’ll see what the day brings. I’ve done 2 half-assed and one dog shit speed workout, that’s enough right? My goal is to run somewhere on the spectrum between not giving up in my head but not puking either. I need to set some training paces for when I finally get serious about running again. It’s suposed to be windy and rainy. Joy. Who else is racing?
Good luck to everyone running Big Sur this weekend!
Have you entered my giveaway?

Laughing at the jeansrip and gots NO advice ๐
I may be that mom….
Andrea says
Dog shit speed? I guess that’s not too fast!
You look like a cool mom with lots of money to spend on jeans!
Melissa says
Hahahaha! The rip…too funny…I have a pair just like that, and I never know if it’s appropriate to wear them! They were/are my favorite pair from college days and I can’t fathom getting rid of them…to wear the rip or not…since yours looks so cool, I say screw it, I’m wearing mine too!
Laura says
That’s perfect that you’re already set for MCM… hope you get in NYC one of these years! Enjoy the 5k… I always struggle to find that balance between a good race and not absolutely dying. No races for me this weekend. I might to a 5k next weekend… kind of flying by the seat of my pants race-wise right now!
christa says
The jeans are good. I often wonder what we did before cell phones, I have a friend who doesn’t have one….She has 2 kiddos too. I’m racing a 5k this weekend.
Kari @ Running Ricig says
Good luck at your 5k! I seriously hate running races that short!
I think you can rock the hole in the jeans.
Lisa J says
At least you were grandfathered in!!! (my first year applying and getting rejected was this year)
I have heard AMAZING things about MCM- depending on how my first marathon goes, I may register for it on opening day before sell out!
Meghan Rene says
I might be the bearer of bad news here. I heard rumors that NYRR discontinued the guaranteed entry after 3 years of not getting in this year. I would check on that ASAP. If this is the case and you don’t get in next year – most charities are a $2,000.00 minimum to raise for a spot. Something to think about ๐
Good luck on your 5K. I am considering running my 4 miler on Sunday without my GPS. EEEEEKKKK.
Jill says
I think you look adorable in anything you wear, the jeans just add to that cuteness.
Good luck with your 5k…the rain will only make you speedier :). Bonus: there’s no way you’ll suck as bad as I did last weekend in my 5k! ๐
Love ya!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
I always said if I ever muster the courage to take on a marathon, MCM is the one I want to do!
Good luck with your 5k – I think the shorter the race the harder it is…takes me 2 miles just to warm up ๐
gingerfoxxx says
awww, i hope the little one’s ok! I personally would rather run MCM than NYC. But i will still enter the lottery for it next year anyways ๐
K says
I think I run my 5K races like you do: “My goal is to run somewhere on the spectrum between not giving up in my head but not puking either.”
bobbi says
And THAT is why I always have my phone on me – I hope she’s feeling ok today!
Erin says
Sorry about NYC! I got in a time but my husband didn’t get in through the lottery so he is running on a charity team since he is going to come with me anyway. It is our one kid-free weekend a year. ๐
I think the jeans look cool now, especially for summer (although as a principle I never buy anything that is already ripped!!!) ๐
Molly says
sorry about NYC, but like you said, you’ll get gradfathered in. That bucket list is going to have a lot of check marks on it!
Yeah, not sure about the jeans, good luck tomorrow!
hikermom says
I like the jeans:) Good luck in your 5k! I am racing the Hero’s Half in Everett WA on Sunday.
Elizabeth says
I think I will be in for 2014 as well. And you can totally pull off the jeans. Can’t wait for big sur! Good luck in your 5k!
Christy (txrunnermom) says
I’m no help with fashion at all! I’m sorry about NYC, I have two friends who made it in, but no one else I know has. Bummer!
Travel Spot says
A dog shit speed workout does not sound like a lot of fun! Good luck on your 5k and good luck getting into MCM!
Kate says
I’ve got some bike stuff going on this weekend, as long as the weather holds. That’s the worst thing about mountain biking, being truly at the mercy of Mother Nature bc I don’t mind getting wet and muddy, but I DO mind tearing up trails.
Good luck this weekend!
Terzah says
OK, it’s official. NONE of my blogging friends (or anyone else I know) got into NYC. Who DID get in???? I realize now how lucky I was getting in for 2005 on the first try (sort of like getting pregnant with twins on the second month of trying–TMI????).
The jeans=cute in my opinion. But I think neat, in clothing and houses, is overrated.
carrie@familyfitnessfood.com says
I saw one person who got in to NYC. But, now I’m not remembering who it was.
My 11 year old does the naturally ripped jeans thing. Personally, I don’t think I could pull it off but that’s because she’s always telling me that I’m not cool. I say go for it.
Good luck tomorrow!!!
Black Knight says
Good luck on your 5 km, I have just raced today. I hope your rank will be better than mine.
Sorry for the NYC.
Mandy says
MCM was on my list of races to consider this year too – that would have been fun! I’ll enjoy running it vicariously!
Hope the 5K was good and the rain held off for you!
Hope Thing 2 is doing well after the head bump!
Laura says
Rock the jeans…you’re cool enough to pull it off. Hope the race went well.
Christi says
I love the jeans so I say Go for it!
Have a great race!
