First thank you all so much for your kind words yesterday. They meant the world to me.
After finally ripping off the bandaid that was the prospect of running the Twin Cities Marathon, I’ve been doing more than my share of sniveling, whining, licking my wounds, riding around on Blanche, the trusty road bike, enjoying some glorious almost-fall weather and thinking.
This old cliche came to mind:
So I thought about the ‘non-running’ things that bring me joy. I hopped back on Blanche, beelined to my favorite farmer’s market and hauled home a bag of my latest love:
I went all Martha Stewart. Again. I baked a kick-ass, I thought I died and went to heaven, apple pie. Not just any pie:
A Dutch Apple pie with an oatmeal streusel top. It has been years since I made a pie. This one was fabulous. I served it at my mom’s birthday party so thankfully there is none left to tempt me. Even if you’re not the pie-baking kind, GET YOURSELF SOME ZESTARS! So crisp and delicious!
Don’t worry, I’m not going to eat myself silly while I’m on this latest running hiatus. At least I’ll try not to.
I also made a doctor’s appointment so I can hopefully solve the mystery of the angry hip once and for all.
Oh and I did one more thing. I accepted a job. That’s right a job. 11+ years ago I traded my executive role in the marketing/advertising field for that of domestic engineer. I am re-entering the workforce. But it has nothing to do with marketing or advertising or any other kind of corporate shenanigans. It’s doing something else I truly love. More about that coming up soon.
Are you doing it?
