After the race we headed to Morrison to meet my friend Geri for some Mexican food and margaritas. Geri, Jill and I all ran Boston in 2009.
Amazing how the stomach that protested all night and through 6 miles of the race could now handle a spinach enchilada and Margarita with ease. Hmmmm…
It was so nice to see you Geri and I look forward to seeing you again in Chicago for our little race on 10/10/10!
The fun did not end there. What are the chances that while I’m struggling for air jet-setting around Breckenridge, I’d get an email from none other than RLAM co-author Dimity McDowell, saying I’d won a giveaway? I’ve been a stalker, groupie, fan for ages…ever since Runner’s World ran the Running Moms series written by Dimity and Sarah (why they ever stopped I’ll never know).
Yep, kids you guessed it, after lots of logistical emailing, Jill and I ended up swinging my Dim’s (it’s ok I call you Dim right?) house after the race to meet her and claim my prize.
We enjoyed iced tea out on Dimity’s patio, met her hubs and kiddos and chatted about all things running. Dimity was warm and wonderful. Plus she was gracious enough not to wear nose plugs or comment on my hat-hair, salt-encrusted skin or dirt socklines. Obviously my attempt to destinkify in the ladies room at the Idaho Springs Visitor’s Center was vastly inadequate. Jill and Tara can vouch for my dire attempt to apply makeup while we drove on the I-70.
You probably know by now that I’m, shall we say, vertically challenged…and clearly Dimity is not.
Dimity it was a pleasure meeting you!
But the evening was young. I had the pleasure of attending yet another party with Jill and her family later that night. Jill’s hubby makes a mean guacamole and Jill and I worked some tag-team magic on a Texas sheet cake unlike any other.
Overall it was a fantastic weekend. Many thanks to Jill for her hospitality and to Tara, Shana, Beth, Geri and Dimity for making it even more special! I definitely need to do the oxygen-deprivation tour again soon!
