The last day of April–already?
I’ve got gear to test and miles to run!
The folks at Sof Sole contacted me to tryout some socks and insoles. Now, I admit I may be a bit of a sock snob since my feet can be um..ornery if not treated just right. Plus they’re still pretty ripped up, compliments of the Newton Hills, I’ll spare you the gory details…but suffice it to say I think I have the market cornered on blood blisters. Yuck.
First up: the Coolmax Trainer
It felt instantly soft and pillowy. Thick where I need it to be, vented and form fitting where I don’t. Nice.
I wore them this week with my Newtons for speedwork and they performed with flying colors.
I wore them today for a very hot tempo run and still 10-toes up. I’ll be back with performance details after this weekend’s long-run but I’m already feeling quite positive about this sock.
Next up: Sof Sole Airr Insoles:
Until today, I had zero experience with insoles of any kind. According to Sof Sole, their product combines an air cushioning system with moisture control technology. There’s an encapsulated air chamber for maximum cushioning and Coolmax top cover for climate control.
I wore these in my LunarGlides for today’s tempo run. Being a forefoot/midfoot striker, I instantly appreciated the gel cushioning in that area. They felt springy and comfortable. Again 10-toes up!
Finally: My new skirt! Well one of them–from RunningSkirts
I bought this baby at the Boston race expo and took her out for a spin today. I’ll think she’ll be perfect for my Mothers’ Day 5k next week don’t you think? She performed beautifully…light and cool in today’s wind and heat. Supremely comfy not to mention cute!
Look at the adorable matching headband! It’s really nice because there’s a rubber strip inside to help hold it in place. Did I say how hot it was today?
my feet are so finicky too! you might have the market cornered on blisters but i'm a close second ๐ i'm going to have to check out those socks now
I love my Running Skirts. If I'm running by mid-May, I'll be heading to their both at the expo in Mississauga.
Okay, this may sound gross but I think blood blisters are cool. It's a sign of your body working to protect itself and then retreat once the war is over.
I hear you on the heat, It was a scorcher today… I was sweating buckets!
Enjoy all the new gear!
You are just as cute as can be in that skirt and matching headband, girlie!! I wish I didn't have thunder quads and could wear a skirt. Maybe when I get super fit over the summer for our comeback marathon – hahah. Hey, maybe those insoles would help my owie heel, maybe I should beg for them, you know, cuz people do that you know. Man I'm tired, and it shows in my rambling thoughts. Long run this weekend? I'm envious – go get 'em!! xo
