Week 10 of Boston training is complete: 32 miles
I’m so tired with all the crappy weather and the time change. Can’t we have one more weekend day? Just one? Here’s how it went:
Monday Yoga
Tuesday SRD still avoiding the chlorine vapors so no pool intervals for me
Wednesday 7 mile run, 30 mins on the bike 75 corework
Thursday Kettleworx DVD, 75 corework
Friday 10 mile run 75 corework
Saturday Kettleworx DVD, 100 corework
Sunday 15 miles run 100 corework. Very windy and drizzly but a mild 40 degrees. At mile 9 I went ankle deep in muddy flood waters. Hesitated for a bit then thought of Shelly on her ultra trail run, and since I had old shoes, went for it. Holy muddy socks! Miles 10, 11 and 12 were a dogfight into the wind. 14 and 15 were no picnic either but it’s done. Can’t remember the last time 15 felt so darn hard.
Dietwise: Not sure if it’s the chia seeds (I notice they curb my cravings) or my steely resolve on this 40-day challenge (probably the chias) I’ve got going, but I managed to drop a couple of pounds this week.
Congrats to this weekend’s racers!
I’ll be around soon to catch up!

We also have the Five Guys franchises here in Texas. I have yet to try them out, but everyone I have talked to seems to really like them.
Great job on the workouts this week. You rock!
Marlene says
Burgers and fries… *drool!* I'd say you earned it! Great workouts this week and congrats on the weight loss!
Laura says
Ohh I don't know if I could have carried on with wet feet, I guess I would have though since running with wet feet can't be too much more miserable than walking with them! Bad luck for stepping in the puddle!
Melissa says
I doubt one burger, fries, and those almonds which are making my mouth water were a problem after the AWESOME workouts you logged for the week.
Great job!!
MJ says
We've had a Five Guys in town for about a year…I've managed to resist thus far, but I've been craving some grease lately..hmmm…
Velma says
Nice job with the run. The kids like Five Guys, but it is a bit much for me.
misszippy says
I would be all over those almonds…my complete weakness! Five Guys is another temptation. We have one and I just try to ignore the fact. Great workouts you logged there, btw!
Brooke says
i had to chuckle a little bit when i read "Can't remember the last time 15 felt so darn hard." since i've not gotten my mileage up that high yet. ๐ good for you for pushing through it.
NY Wolve says
Burgers, fries, potato chips and beer are all diet busters for me too. When I get serious about training, I abstain completely lest one little french fry bring down my wall of resolve.
TMB @ RACING WITH BABES says
So happy you are back running!! We have Five Guys! Love that place.
Lacey says
sooooooooooooo you totally called it back when you said you were gonna build an ark. cuz… there is flooding all around me!!! it's ridic!!!!!!!! anyway. great job with your workouts. and 15 mile run!
Jill says
We have a 5 Guys that just went up here – totally awesome fries .. but I have to stay away for a few more weeks :(. Your almonds look awesome!!! Man, I can't want to over-indulge in massive quantities of bad for me food 5 weeks from this afternoon, you will be joining me, too :). You're getting back in there and doing awesome!! So happy your training's going well…yea!
Anne Marie says
Do you seriously do 75-100 minutes of COREWORK each day? Dang! That's pretty cool.
and you deserve the fries!
Anne says
After such a great week of workouts it's not a double burger and fries that will ruin you ๐ …enjoy!
Running Through Life says
Burger and fries sound so good. You have to have some cheats once in a while. Moderation for everything.
Julie says
I can't even tell you the last time I had burgers and french fries:) Too long! I am suddenly craving them now! Good job on your workouts Marcia…you are doing great:)
Molly says
mmmm, I have yet to go to Five Guys, but my husband raves about it. It's all about balance, right? : )
Heather says
Those almonds look so delicious! Nice job on the workouts!
Steel Springs says
Wow! Sunday's 15 miler sounds rough. I'm impressed that you continued through the muddy water. Nice job this week!
The Happy Runner says
Great week — especially that tough 15! Way to go.

I had a bad weekend eating wise but no caveman is to blame, just me! I bought a bag of black jelly beans and forgot to share them.
Nice job on all your training!
LMC says
It's awesome that you are running again! Great job on the 15 miler. So, if I eat more chia then I can eat more burgers and fries. That sounds like a deal to me!
Have a good week!
Amanda - RunToTheFinish says
so my 40 days is sugar…seriously I need someone to just padlock my mouth shut at certain points in the day! Hopefully just reading everyone else's success will keep me going
Rio says
Sometimes, I just need to give in to those food temptations- as long as I don't make it a habit! You are doing so great with your training!
jill says
I love burger and fries as my cheat meal for the week.
Great work with your training.
Michelle says
Yummo! I love Five Guys even though I steer clear of the place most of the time b/c it is so good!
lindsay says
mmm 5 guys. their fries are something more 'natural' right? or am i just justifying that to myself… ๐
another solid week of working out! if only i had your dedication to core work… i might just get rid of this buddha belly ๐
