4 Weeks To Boston!
Week 12 Boston Training is Complete: 37 miles
Wow time is flying! And finally a training week with some mileage I could sink my feet into.
Here’s how it went:
Monday: 3 mile recovery run, Yoga, 100 core moves
Tuesday: KettleWorx Core DVD and Arms/Shoulders DVD
Wednesday: Ran 6 miles with 6x400m intervals, 100 core moves
Thursday: 100 core moves
Friday: 20 miles!!! My second 20 of the training cycle. The plan calls for 5. I’ll be lucky to get in 3. 100 core moves
Saturday: SRD
Sunday: 8 miles, 2 easy 4 tempo, 2 easy. 100 core moves
Notes: I was way more sore after last week’s 15 miler than I was after this week’s 20. Hopefully my body is reacclimating to higher mileage. I sat out of Sunday’s March Madness 1/2. It’s uber hilly and not the risk I need to be taking with my achilles 4 weeks before Boston. It was hard to resist but I managed.

I feel like time is flying too, and I'm not running Boston! Great job on your 20 miler! I'm still working my core! : )
Aimee (I Tri To Be Me) says
Congrats on doing your 20 miler! Woohoo! Alright, I have to ask..what are the 100 core moves?
Allie says
I haven't even run that many miles this month, you're hardcore!!! Glad you weren't as sore this week either.
Lorian says
Nice 20 miler! You will rock in Boston!
Christine Jensen says
Sounds like a great training week! Congrats on completing 20, I was dying this weekend running 8!
AM-GoalsfortheWeek! says
so it's 100 core moves, not minutes;-) i'm still chuckling at your response 'Good lord Woman, not 75 min of core work!'

So happy to hear the 20 went well, and you decided to sit out on the race. It was the right choice!
ajh says
Wow! Your plan calls for 5 20 milers. That sounds like a lot! Glad you are doing better.
LMC says
That's a great training week. Good job! I think you were smart not to do the hilly half 2 days after your 20 miler. Have a great week!
Char says
You're almost there. Very sensible of you to forgo the 1/2. It's much more important to look at the big picture at the moment.
Anne says
Great job on the 20 miler! Wow, that's a lot of miles! Smart woman staying away from the half this close to Boston ๐
Cynthia O'H says
I know how you're feeling with the long runs. As soon as I get into them, the time goes by so quickly.
Good job on Friday's run. Keep taking it easy when you feel the need; you only have a month left.
Running Through Life says
Great job on getting the 20 miler done. Saturday threw a curve ball at us with the weather. Sorry to hear you missed the race in Cary but you are being smart in focusing on Boston.
NY Wolve says
Boston is setting up well. Nice training — I always have problems with those long runs closer to the marathon. Injury, ennui, etc., all make me dread them, so good job.
Kenley says
Looks like you had a great week. As my mileage is increasing, I am finding out that it is not exact science. I can hurt from a 5 miler and then my 10 miler does not offer any hurtingness of any kind. Weird. Take care and best wishes with your marathon training.
