Week 5 of Boston Training is Complete: 35 miles
Here’s how it went:
Monday: Yoga
Tuesday: Speedwork: 3x1600m and Weights.
Wednesday: FIRST+ endurance run. Cutback to 5 miles.
Thursday: SRD
Friday: 6 mile tempo run. Weights.
Saturday: SRD
Sunday: 18 miles; Kettleworx Core DVD; Swimming Dog paddling with the kids.
Notes: I took 2 rest days to combat the fatigue I’ve been feeling lately. My runs on Tuesday and Friday were surprisingly good, although the doodie hit the proverbial fan yesterday when my long run started out leaden and went downhill from there.
15 degrees and sooooo darn windy! Plus I suppose I didn’t do myself any favors at the Mardi Gras party the night before, or with my nutrition the entire day for that matter.
Now my left knee is bugging me (heck what isn’t these days?). So it’s back to the drawing board to recover, replan and regroup.
I’m officially signed up for The Chicago Marathon!!

WOW! What a week! Good for you! Just seeing your Sunday makes me want to take a nap.
Hope you get the chance to rest.
Geri says
Sorry about your difficult 18 miler. I felt the effects of bad fueling on my long run yesterday, but luckily it was only 14 miles. I guess that's how aversion therapy works! It will be a while before I eat so badly before a long run again.
Good for you for recognizing early signs of overtraining and doing something before it gets bad.
kilax says
Okay, now I really DO need to register for Chicago! ๐

Yay Chicago!!! I'll be signing up soon!! I can't wait. I've heard such good things about that race. But, woah! What an entry fee and no early entry discounts or 50-state discounts. What's up with that???
Great workout this week! I need to learn to use those kettlebells… seems like a great workout!
