So now what? If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me this in the last few weeks…
Post marathon recovery aches and pains. Check. Not bad at all this time.
Post marathon head cold. Check. Glad to have this out of the way.
Register for Boston. Check. Now if only securing a hotel were as easy.
Register for Turkey Trot. Check.
Change up the workout. Check. Running has taken a back seat. All of my runs until today have been in the single digits mileage-wise. No speedwork, no pace goals. Just pure running enjoyment. It’s so good to have a break from training!
My new focus: I’m reacquainting myself with those long neglected lumps of calorie-incinerating power: MUSCLES!
My workout of choice until Boston training ramps up:
A hybrid P90X only shorter/Crossfit routine that I cooked up in an attempt to head off the holiday calories and emerge a leaner, meaner Marcia (well ok not meaner exactly but you KWIM).
So how’s that going you ask? in a word, OUCH! I’ve been at it a whole 2 weeks and I am relieved to report that the condition of my backside has been upgraded from red: (buttular state of emergency) to orange: (plenty of residual backside fatigue) but moving in the right direciton–for now anyway.
And I’ve topped it off with the 100 pushup challenge and last but not least some dietary discipline. I’ll elaborate on that and share my progress in an upcoming post.
Today I did a glorious 10-miler (my longest so far apres marathon) in gorgeous weather. To keep things interesting, I brought along some ZICO Coconut Water for a little fuel experimentation. I heard of coconut water awhile ago but didn’t want to mess with it during training. I found it light and tropically refreshing, and I held up just fine through the run, although today’s temps ranged from 40-50 so that’s not saying terribly much. I’ll definitely give it another try when things heat up around here.

Glad to hear all is going well.
Are you doing CrossFit or your own similar routine? I have friends who do CrossFit. I'm still on track with P90x and my running although it's a challenge to keep the energy up with the kiddos and work, too.

Shelly I'm kind of cherry picking exercises out of CrossFit and P90x. Not sure why I couldn't commit to one of them as they both seem great so far!
Good for you for keeping up with all you do!

I love your rating system for your backside. I almost died when I read "buttular state of emergency"! LOL!
Glad you stopped by Mom vs. Marathon. Love new bloggy running buddies!

I wanted to stop in and say hello. I just started reading your blog. The coconut water sounds intriguing. I'm looking forward to hearing more about it.

Hi there. Thanks for your comment on my blog. I see you have a little running addiction as well. Funny how that happens. And judging by your times, you are also fast. I hope to get faster one of these days **sigh**. I'm adding you to my reader.
