Congrats on a fantastic race Chicago Marathoners! Your hard work all these months has paid off. What a wonderful day it was to witness the fruit of everyone’s labor! Even though I wasn’t running I still teared up when The Jersey Boys guy sang the National Anthem. It was so cool to look out over the crowd of runners at the start and see many of you throwing off your warm-up layer. I was lucky enough to see some of you over the weekend and I’ve heard lots of your results. If I haven’t please check in or email me a race report! I’d love to know how you did–amazing I’m sure!
Now for a blast from the past: I dug up a couple of pics of yours truly when I ran Chicago. It was the notoriously hot year, 2007. My first marathon. I won’t bore you with an old race report but as I crossed the fnish line that day I vowed never to do another one. By the next morning I knew I had to try again because I hadn’t yet run “my race”. My tenacity was rewarded with a BQ on my second attempt! Anyway being at the starting line the other day made me want to have a rematch in Chicago so badly! Hmmmm…..maybe next year, we’ll see.

What a beautiful day it turned out to be! I am happy with my finish time of 3:45:06, even though I was really hoping to PR. This was good enough to earn me another spot in Boston, and for that I am mighty glad! Today I am sore and feel like the cold that has been knocking on my door for weeks has finally found its way in. I have spent most of the day on my couch.
How are you coping with the taper? When do you leave for Columbus? I bet you are chomping at the bit to stand at a starting line fully dressed after Sunday. I also teared up during the anthem. It was SO beautiful and so moving to be a part of that crowd.
Thank you for volunteering. I wish I could have met you.

Congrats Ruth! Holy cow that is a fantastic time PR or not! So Boston 2010 for you? If so we have to meet then!
Taper-wise I'm eerily at peace for now, although I still have no clue what to wear. Yes I was totally ready and wanting to run yesterday when you all were going off. Looks like we're heading out early Friday morning so I'll have an extra day to relax, look at the course etc. Thank you so much for checking in–I was totally thinking of you on your big day! Now enjoy more R&R; on that couch–you've earned it!:)
