I guess it’s safe to say I’ve become obsessive about Boston’s weather lately. I check Accuweather on my IPod just about hourly, then listen to the morning forecast, then follow that up with 3 network forecasts later in the afternoon. The problem is, it’s different every time I look. Rain one minute, partly cloudy with a 40% chance the next. And just because I’m focusing on Boston these days, don’t think for a second I’m neglecting to monitor Chicago weather. My theory is whatever weather Chicago has may very well blow over to the Boston area over the course of a day or 2.
At least my latest weather obsession has distracted me ever so slightly from the upcoming task at hand: actually running the marathon. I’m happy and hopeful to report that the hammy is feeling lots better lately and the IT is only speaking in the most muted of tones.
I think I made it thru the entire day yesterday with no breakdowns to speak of. And today I must fess up to only one. Could I finally be getting my head around this whole thing?
Packing is well underway for the most part and the dogs will be shipping out tomorrow for a spa weekend chez my sister’s. On the exercise front, SRD today. I forewent my usual Pilates class for a trip to Wal-Mart in search of heavy duty trash bags, one or more of which I will be sporting if it’s cold at the starting line on Monday and the rest I will fashion into some semblance of a seating/rest area on the probably wet/possibly muddy grass in Hopkinton in the tent city affectionately known as the “Athlete’s Village”
Tomorrow I have my last visit to the sports doc who will make one last ditch effort to calm the angry hammy, release the stubborn IT and whatever else he can to help ensure I make it across the finish line in one piece. The adventure continues.
