The last straws of hay are in the barn as of this morning. 3 miles at marathon pace were on tap, although I ended up with 3 moolit, teary, emotional miles at adrenaline-propelled speed. Much too fast but it felt good so I’m happy. Angry body parts were more compliant then they’ve been in some time.
I went for my last ART session shortly after. How pathetic am I that massage/interferential stim/heat and kinesiotape seem like decadent pampering? Nevertheless I’m now sporting kinesiotape in menacing black to both psyche out the Boston field and match my racing outfit, however it may come together in the unpredictable New England weather.
I think this morning’s cry was therapeutic for me as I’ve seemed to settle into a state of calm. The work is done. I am ready to do what I love to do.
I’ll be back next week with a race report.
