My poor toenail that is. . . .it managed to stay on thru my training for Grand Rapids, but fell off promptly after during a Pilates class no less. I painted my toenails a dark reddish purple to help it blend in, but noticed it extending and retracting while I was doing the hundred. One touch and off it came and of course I had nowhere to put it, so, not wanting to gross anyone out, I hid it under my mat, figuring I’d dispose of it after class. But as I was rolling up my mat, having completely forgotten about the nail someone walked past and kicked it, sending it skittering across the floor. That was the last I saw of my “marathon nail”. Since then a new one has grown in, just in time for the onset of Boston 20-milers. After last week’s long run I felt the familiar, lingering soreness. The ominous blue/purple cast followed. Will this one even bother to stay on thru training? I’m betting it may not.
So, catching up, I had a good training week.
Tuesday: 6x800m and Pilates
Wednesday: Weights
Thursday: 8 mile tempo at 8:20–felt good
Friday: Plyometric Intervals
Sunday: 13 miles, a cutback week and I feel guilty I never made it out to the site of my upcoming March Madness 1/2 for some fun on the hills, but all in all my run was solid and on pace.
SRD today and I do feel like I have the slightest touch of something. I’ll shake it I know but for today, not quite 100%.
