It’s been a helluva couple of weeks here in my neck of the woods. Just when you think life can’t get any more exciting (in a great way) IT DOES!
You probably know what I’m referring to but if you don’t, here it comes:
Bang…
and BANG!
As if being lucky in the London lottery wasn’t enough (believe me it was!) I got word that the tour company (whose lottery failed to net me a Tokyo spot back in July) did indeed have a spot for me at the Tokyo Marathon. While I’ve never run two marathons closer together than 5-6 months, and I’d never recommend doing two marathons so close together, opportunities like these don’t come around very often….or ever…so I’m going to bite the bullet, train as carefully as I can, and pray the ole bod is onboard with this adventure. I’m extra pumped that now my 6-star, World Marathon Major pomp and circumstance will take place in London, which ironically could have been my first marathon. Now it will be my last. Full circle.

Comedian and runner Keven Hart ran the Chicago Marathon this year. He was interviewed before the race and I love what he said so much I have to share it. When he was asked if he was intimidated by all the elites in the Chicago Marathon field he answered: “Intimidated? No way! While I’m inspired by elites or anyone who runs really, I’m not intimidated because I’m here to run my own race. How fast someone else is running has no bearing on me. I run to challenge myself.” Amen brother!
It’s a yes from me:
Swiftwick Pursuit Socks. This is a refresh of an old favorite. The newly redesigned Pursuit Socks have a reinforced heel and toe, the heel pocket is deeper, plus they’re made in the USA from domestically-sourced Merino Wool. I am LOVING these on trails. LOVING the little bit longer cuff to keep the dirt and gravel away from my feet. They’re so comfy/cozy you may even catch me wearing them in civilian (not running) life. Guilty as charged. They make a great stocking stuffer, just saying…because it’s really not too early to talk about the holidays.
Possibly my favorite Friday of the month is coming up next week! That’s right it’s almost time again for the Runfession Friday Linkup! Join us!
I’m linking up with Meranda, Lacey and Rachel for the Friday Five.

I had not seen Kevin Hart’s quote about the marathon…he’s spot-on with that! I am over-the-moon excited for you, Marcia. Seriously, your spring is gonna be so monumental 😉

Huge news and so exciting. Getting your 6th star and big medal in London will be amazing. It was one of my favorite of the Abbott races…. Be prepared for horrible jet lag in Tokyo. I ran that race to finish and nothing else. It was so interesting to me….the Japanese runners looked so overdressed (long tights and long sleeve shirts and jackets…it was at least 60 degrees) And the predominance of men at the race was huge last year. I am so excited for you!
