The first Saturday of the month means its time to sit down and have coffee with Coco, Deb, Lynda and you!
If we were having coffee, no doubt it’d be al fresco coffee since the weather here today is divine. I may invite you to Frappy Hour (that’s insider speak for 1/2 price frappuccinos at the buck of star) or at least an iced coffee out on the deck.
I’d tell you I’m racing tomorrow (for the donkey keychain they’re calling a medal). But I’m a little nervous I may be running in a T’storm. They offered a suburban packet pickup option that I gleefully jumped all over. But when they published the actual pickup time, I realized I had to high-tail it across town in the heat of rush hour. Who offers packet pickup for 2 hours in the middle of the evening rush??
I’d tell you to beware of internet scammers. A friend alerted me that someone was posting weird things to FB on my behalf. I promptly changed my password. Then I started getting curious emails to the account that was associated with my FB page. Things like “your bank account has been suspended until you verify your info., your credit card has been suspended until you verify your info, and so on, you name, they phished for it.
The other day I got a text from my email service provider saying they’d shut down my email because 5 failed attempts at the security questions were made from 5 different countries over the course of 2 minutes. Nice.
I’d tell you Thing 2 is taking gymnastics. She’s only been asking since she was about 3 but the Caveman and I were too scared she’d break her neck. Well we finally succumbed. And she freaking loves it. Fingers and everything else crossed there’ll be no broken anything.
I’d tell you I’m honored to be featured as a Spotlight Coach. Head on over to Thoroughly Thriving to read what I have to say!
I’d tell you that the Runner’s World cover search is on. Again. Go here to enter. Why not you?
I’d tell you to #Find7 and Win. Our friends at Wahoo Fitness are having a sweepstakes. Show us how you #Find7 minutes in your busy day to workout and you could win some amazing prizes. Check here for more info on how to enter and to ogle the prizes.
What would you tell me over coffee? Did you enter my giveaway?
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
Oh, someone hacked my gmail earlier this year. It was interesting because I received a message from Google that someone was attempting to hack me, then a few minutes later, I received an email that they were successful. I promptly changed my password. Yikes.
Megan @ Meg Go Run says
Go get that freaking key chain, Marcia!
Raina says
Id love to go to the buck of star with you Marcia! I’d be skeered if someone was trying for all that personal info. Man they are relentless! And dirty!!!
So.. I’d tell you over coffe that I’ve been buying McDonald’s any size coffee for 1$ and using their “free” honey (request at counter) instead of the 4$ drive through. I like it! Almost as good as my homemade..
Karen @ Fit in France says
My daughter does gymnastics so I understand the OMG she is going to break her neck thing. Which is why I cover my eyes a lot of the time ! Hope you are racing in decent conditions this weekend. It has turned HOT here. 80s.
Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine says
So glad to hear your weather has improved! We are finally supposed to see the sun this afternoon after about 10 days of rain and clouds. Yesterday it poured all day long! The hacker stuff is so annoying. I hate changing my password as it is, so I would be really annoyed to have to change it because someone else was trying to get in! But good to know those security measures work.
Mary Beth Jackson says
email hackers smackers! I keep getting a weird email about my Amazon account, it is always something! Good luck with your race coach! You know you want that donkey! 🙂 Happy Mother’s day too !
Deborah @ Confessions of a mother runner says
I should probably update all of my email passwords too thanks for the reminder. Good luck with you half tomorrow hope the weather is good! Thanks for joining us for coffee today always great to have you!
Tamieka says
Please send some of the at nice weather to MD. It has been cool to cold and rainy for almost 2 weeks. I can’t take it. I feel like I aM in Seattle!!
I hope you don’t get rained on for your run. I was suppose to do the Susan G Koman race for the cure today but my son has a soccer game at 9.
Damn scammers. Go do something brilliant rather than spamming/scamming folks!
Congrats on the coach spotlight. That is cool!
I will enter your giveaway -thanks for the reminder!
Farrah says
Augh! I hope that internet scammer thing gets sorted out soon! That really sucks. :[ (Happened with my credit card recently, so they killed my current one and are sending me a new one.)
Hooray for gymnastics! I will definitely keep my fingers crossed for no injuries!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Ugh I hope you get the scam/hacker thing resolved soon – such a pain in the arse!
Yay for gymnastics! Sending positive vibes your daughter continues to enjoy sans injury.
Good luck with your race tomorrow – fingers crossed the weather cooperates for you. We seem to be in a rain cycle here that just doesn’t want to end. Can’t remember the last time we had a sunny day.
Tricia @ MissSippipiddlin says
Oh goodness, I hate to hear you are dealing with security issues with social media and email. I get emails from paypal all the time associated with my blog email which is not even linked to my account. Weird.
I hope your race goes great tomorrow and you get that bad ass medal….or ummmm keychain. Sorry I couldn’t resist. I’d so enjoy a real cup of coffee with you, Marcia! I’m trying to get my husband to let me sneak off with Holly when she does Chicago, so far he isn’t biting… But I’m still trying.
Coco says
My son broke a lot of bones doing various sports, but I don’t think he regrets any of it. The hardest for him was when he broke his wrist in FB practice … the day after making the varsity squad. The hardest for me was when he broke his arm at a BMX race in NJ and I had to drive up to the hospital by myself (since my husb was with him already) … on Mother’s Day! Hopefully your daughter won’t break anything! Yikes on all the phishing. We are getting phished at work with the bad check scams.
Steph says
Email hackers are the worst. I had a reasonably legit one come through for my bank the other day, but quickly realised that it had been sent to the wrong account, as my bank is registered under a different email. Urgh, it does suck.
That’s great that your daughter is loving gymnastics! I have everything crossed for no injuries!
HoHo Runs says
I had an issue with my credit card just this week. They had to re-issue the card again. That’s about the 3rd time in a year. It’s aggravating. I can’t wait to see that donkey key chain. Friday I was at the Buck of Star just 15 minutes before happy hour started! Did I wait? No. I ain’t got time for that! Ha.
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
I hope you enjoy your race! So funny about that keychain/medal. That stinks that you had some issues with phishing, I swear that there are so many oddball friend requests that I’ve been receiving on Facebook lately that make me worry that the profiles are fake. I would love to do that Runner’s World Cover contest just for a good laugh…I know there’s no way I could get it haha!
Missy - Getting Fit to Find Myself says
Some people are terrible! Someone just hacked my Facebook and tried to get my credit card number, I don’t fall for it. However, someone recently stole my credit card number and created their own card. I hope your stuff gets figured out soon! It is so miserable to deal with!
Laura@Fit Running Mama says
How AMAZING was the weather this weekend- forget the fraps… bring on the drinks 🙂
Emily @ Out and About says
It was so great to see you yesterday, Marcia! Thank you again for driving! Scammer/hackers are terrifying. My Facebook account once got hacked and it was an extremely unpleasant experience. Congratulations on the Spotlight Coach feature!!!
