This week’s Tuesdays on the Run topic is this year’s running highlights. It coincides very nicely with Courtney’s Year in Running Linkup so I’m going to borrow her format and linkup with her as well.
Best Race Experience: Let’s face it, I did not light the world on fire with my speed this year. Except for the very last race (4-mile Turkey Trot) where I posted a 7:55 average pace. The course was short and it rained buckets for some of it, but this race was much faster than anything I’d run in years and it didn’t even feel that hard.
Best Run: This capstone training run before I kicked off the taper for the Twin Cities Marathon. Anytime I can finish 22 miles upright is cause for celebration.
Best New Running Gear. This has to go to my Spandits. Love, love, love all the crazy patterns and being an Ambassador this year has been a blast. This deal ends on Christmas Day so jump on it: Save $15 when you spend $75 and SPANDITSLOVE saves you 10% more! Oh and find me on Twitter right now because I’ve got a giveaway there you don’t wanna miss. I’ll announce the winner on Twitter on Christmas day.
Most Inspirational Runner. With just a few weeks until race day, Holly over at Hoho Runs had to bail on the Chicago Marathon (her first) due to a stress fracture. She has been busting her tail in the pool and on the bike and keeping her spirits bright. She has been a paragon of tenacity and perseverance and I can’t wait to see her rock Disney.
Best Race Pic: A tie between this one where I realized the swim portion of my tri did not kill me, and I’m high-fiving the announcer guy…
…and this one of a triumphant tri finish where countless demons and suck monkeys were finally put to rest.
Races You’d Repeat in a Heartbeat. Vegas baby! The Rock n Roll Remix was beyond awesome. I’m not the hugest Vegas fan that ever lived but this? I loved it!
Sum up your year in a couple of words. I’m a triathlete! The ‘not a swimmer’ thing dogged me my entire life. I’m not sure I’ll ever love the swim, but this was the year I overcame the fear.
What were this year’s highlights for you?

Great post, and great time. I really did not have re cap for the year, as I did not do many runs due to broken bones and other family obligations. I am hoping this year will be better.

Great 2015 recap! I love the picture of you high-fiving the announcer after the swim-so fun!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
You had a great yr! Congrats on “triing”.
I do love to swim — I’m slow as molasses at that, too, but it just makes me feel good. If only there were 28 hrs in a day . . .
I told you Vegas is awesome. 😉
Nicola @ Running Happy says
What a great year, love your finishing photos too.
My race highlight was running Trailffest, a trail half marathon along a mountain range. Think I’ll be signing up for it next year!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says

Oh my gosh! I love this idea – I wish I would have known ahead of time, I would have saved my Donut 5K race racap for tomorrow. Loved seeing you highlight your running milestones through this year. Such a fun way to close out 2015! Awesome job 🙂
Michelle says
Great job this past year!! I’d have to say my running highlights were finishing Grandma’s marathon with my sister, and my PR half race last May!

What a great year, Marcia! I’ve never done a Tri because ‘I;m not a swimmer” either. But maybe I can change that next year.
Sue @ This Mama Runs for Cupcakes says
I’d say that was a pretty darn good year! I NEED to get a pair of Spandits, but the lack of pockets is holding me back :/ So great meeting you in Vegas and I would totally do it in a heartbeat again!! Merry Christmas Marcia!
