We’re slowly adjusting to the school schedule, Thing 1 is mostly sucking it up and riding her uber-early bus, Thing 2 has gotten over the worst of her cold and knock wood, I have not succumbed to the rampant back-to-school germs. Thank you Zarbee’s!
Last night we went to the high-school open house. It was really fun to follow along on Thing 1’s typical day and meet all of her teachers. When the clock edged past 9pm though, I felt my inner Runhole stirring. When it hit 9:30 there was all-out panic. 9:40 found me nodding off. I mean really. Isn’t that way too late? On a run, I mean school night?
Now for the aggressive part I alluded to in the header: These “wrap people” are all over Instagram. For the most part I don’t follow them. Wraps are something I am not even remotely interested in, will never use, and I question the safety of them. As much as I try to spare myself those before and after pics, apparently I unwittingly followed and liked a pic posted by a wrapper. Immediately I got a personal message asking me if, since I “liked” whatever it was I liked, she was sending in an order soon so did I want to place one? Seriously? Does this kind of contact strategy work? Personally, aggressive sales tactics like these send me racing to the unfollow button. Is it just me?
What are you thinking about today? Have you tried a wrap? Are kids back to school where you are?
I’m linking up with Amanda for Thinking Out Loud Thursday.

Um, when you said wrap I was thinking a wrap sandwich. That’s the only type of wrap I’m interested in!
I am generally in bed (but not asleep) by 8 pm. Usually lights out by 9-9:30 am. My whole family makes fun of me.
Of course I am up and out of bed by 4:30 – 5 am usually, too. I really didn’t want to get up at 4:15 this morning, as I haven’t been sleeping great lately, but Chester standing on top of me made it very clear that HE needed to get out of bed that early.

I know what you mean about those wraps on instagram! At first I had no idea about them and ended up following a lot of people who were promoting them. I think now I have cleaned up who I follow, but a few still sneak in there.
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
So I just keep unfollowing those wrap people and yet, somehow, I get sucked in again. What is it that makes these people think the seaweed wraps work? I know of no magical secret to getting in shape.
I didn’t go to the HS open house this year. It’s always on my late night at work, and usually I ask off. But I don’t find it all that helpful. I feel so uninvolved.

The wrap people came after me a while back. Then they stopped. I get a lot of push to do Beach Body and the 21 day fix. Not my thing, but thanks. I actually have an old post about not being pushy. GO READ IT lol
Alexandra @ My Urban Family says
Too pushy is definitely a turn off, but part of me understands slightly why they feel it would be effective. There is so much noise and constant change on the internet these days that it feels impossible to really stand out and get attention.

I block any wrap person that likes my page along with the corsett people. 🙂

I don’t get the aggressive style, either. I haven’t encountered the wrap people but there are plenty of aggressive BeachBody coaches out there. (There are also many nice and sensible ones). It just turns me off to have someone profess to know more about what is going to work for me than me or my sport-specific coach would know.

What are the teachers thinking staying out till after 9:30? Surely they want to get away from that place too?! Was it one annoying parent asking stupid questions? The one who wants teachers to set homework in school holidays.
Erica @ Erica Finds says
OMG- hate the wraps. As soon as I see one of those disgusting pics… Unfollow! And the beach body/Shakeology/Rodan and Fields and everyone else … No, I don’t want to buy anything from you!!! I don’t understand who is!
Michelle says
While I applaud those who want to get out and get their business going, I find it SOOOO annoying the pressure you try to put on others to buy the product. One of my Air Force girlfriends sells the wraps and offered me a free sample pack to try and blog about. After all 4 wraps, I saw absolutely NO difference. But I didn’t feel right knocking them until I gave them a fair shot. To each their own, I say….but don’t be pushy! LOL!

I am with you sister! where do those wrap people come from? They scare the SH*T out of me? If I am feeling crazy I can wrap myself in saran wrap and let my hubby take my picture- now that sounds like fun! NOT! LOL! TGIF!!! good luck with the school year- I have a hard time staying up past 9:30 🙂
Abby @ BackAtSquareZero says
I HATE the wrap people, how do they even think you can just wrap yourself skinny? Seriously?!?
Sharon says
9:40 on a school night, yeah that’s late! The wrap people just don’t stop. Some of the beachbody people are aggressive as well!
Sue @ This Mama Runs for Cupcakes says
I’m right there with you on the wraps. The same thing has happened to me and it’s so annoying!! They get blocked.
