How can it be October already? With temps climbing into the mid-80’s here today, it sure doesn’t feel like October.
Anyway, let’s not let the last quarter of the year slip away without doing something(s) constructive. We all know that making one small change is pretty easy, feels harmless right? But sticking with it can be a challenge. That’s why I’m challenging myself to make one small change every week throughout this final quarter. It can be as simple as adding in an apple a day, drinking an extra 12 oz of water, organizing your junk drawer, skipping that afternoon cookie, keeping a kitchen counter free of mail (cough, me, cough), weekly meal planning, a daily walk, positive self talk, etc.
The catch is you have to STICK with it throughout the quarter. Each week, we’ll add another small change, and build from there. Confidence, enthusiasm and momentum grow as we celebrate each success. It’s totally up to you how big or small to make your goals. Maybe you weren’t successful with the change: It’s aok to focus on that change a second week, or choose a different one completely. I’ll be talking about One Small Change here every Tuesday and adding a linkup so you can blog about the changes you are making. No blog? Feel free to post your progress on the MHS Facebook page. Use #OneSmallChange on Instagram and Twitter.
There will be prizes, if you’re into that sort of thing. Random winners will be chosen monthly.
What will your first One Small Change be?
Erica @ erica finds says
Love this idea – count me IN! I will start today… with????? (tell you later when I come up with it!)
Elle says
My first one small change will be:
No snacking after 8 pm
Did I just say that?

I am in! 1st small challenge add in 16 ounces of water in my day. I have been really slacking on getting enough water and I need to get back in the habit:)
Kim says
I’m in too! My first small change is going to be to eat an apple a day. I eat a lot of veggies but tend to slack on the fruit.
Kim says
I’m in – my first small (biggish) change will be to stop waiting until 5 or 6 to finally eat for the day – seriously not working out well!!!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Love, love, love this!! I’m in! My first small change – daily planks. This will help me make sure that I’m getting some consistent core work in!
Jody - Fit at 55 says
A great challenge! I will follow.. I don’t really do public challenges but I will try privately! 🙂
Lauren @ Lauren Runs says
Awesome challenge! I go “daily plank”! 30-60 seconds, but consistency will be key!
Joe Troyer says
I should start with giving up pop. Then eating after 7. I got two weeks down. Now what do I do for the rest? I guess I need to be sure I can pull these 2 off first.
Laura @ Mommy Run Fast says
That’s a great idea! I think I’ll start with keeping the kitchen closed after dinner. I’m such a night time snacker, even though I’m not hungry. Hmm, I have to keep this up through the whole quarter? Maybe I should start with an easier one…
Kimberly @ Healthy Strides says
I want to eat just one sugary treat a day. I’ve been super bad lately about the mini candy bars and hot chocolates, and I’d love to rein it in before the holidays.

I love the idea of making one small change every week. That definitely makes challenges much more manageable. My goal this week is going to be to drink more water. I live in a constant state of dehydration!
