Happy March! It’s in like a lion here with blowing snow (what else is new?) and frigid wind chills. So let’s wrap up February:
Miles run: 71
Miles Cycled: 75
Races: 1
Muddy Monk Frozen 5: DNS because the trails were a sheet of ice.
Virtual Races: 3
- Colton’s Army
- Grandma Lil
- Team Gab
Goals for Feb: Weightloss
- Weight: -3.6 lbs.
- Body Fat: -3%
Holy cow this has not been easy. I’m still logging my food and tracking with the Fitbit Aria scale. I can clearly see now that every little chip counts. 2 lbs. of cruise weight to go; then 6 lbs to BQ weight.
Guilty Pleasure: Junket to Montreal for the Maroon 5 concert. OK I’m not guilty about this. At. All.
Triumphs:
- Meal planning: Finally, for the first time ever, I planned meals every week. I prepped ahead of time and thawed early. The stress this reduced was significant. Need to keep this train rolling.
- Heart Rate Training: My runs are so much more enjoyable this way.
Upcoming races: While May and June are filling up, I don’t have much on tap in March and April so far:
- 3/30: Eggshell Shuffle 5k
- 5/4: Wisconsin Half
- 5/18: Run for the Fields 5k
- 5/19: Chicagoland Spring Half
- 6/2: Northshore Half
- 6/23: Fleet Feet Women’s Half
- 7/18: Espirit de She 5k
How was your February? What’s on tap for March? Anyone racing?

Everyone who does meal planning loves it, but I just can’t get it to stick!
Great month!!

It looks like you had a great month! I am always scrambling at 5:00 to figure out what to make for dinner. I’ve tried to plan, but then I forget, and make something else 🙂

I finally have a race–the Canyonlands Half on March 16. Looking forward to a road trip with the girls. Speaking of which….that four-miler I have to do today isn’t going to run itself.
Congrats on a strong Feb for you!

Wait, did I tell you that I was one of the lucky ones (or am I?) that made it into the Chicago Marathon this year before the big online crash? Want to hear the crazy part? I registered on my phone and their system gave me an error message after I paid that it didn’t go through BUT THEN I received an email from them an hour later saying that it HAD gone through and that I was in. WHAT A MESS! My friends who are going with me didn’t get in so they’ll have to lottery. More of a mess.
Well done on the eating front. I’ve been writing down what I eat but I still can’t get over not having a chocolate once a day. Sigh.

Great job with the weight/body fat. I hate to hear that every bite counts, but I know it’s true!
You’ve got a nice line up for racing. I want to get back to some half marathons this year. I would love to go to Wisconsin to do that one!

Great job sticking with the weight loss plan!! I’m fixing to make a couple changes in my diet and see if I can find my abs again – I like to blame it on age but I’m pretty sure there are a few other factors!

Way to go on all that action. I did pretty well, tipping just over 200 miles 2nd time in a row this year. I hear ya on having to be diligent with every tracking cuz if not, you’ll see it, or not. I wish you a marvelous March. I’ll tell that weather to go away for ya! Take care.

Great month Marcia! I have a 5k on Sunday and The Big Climb on the 24th. Great month for races:)

Today, someone just asked me about FITBIT. Nice to see it in action – I had never heard of it before!

On the strength of all those numbers I decided to add up my k’s for February and convert them to miles. 115 isn’t too bad. Plus a few extra miles in walking form to keep the dogs happy. Pity there wasn’t an awful lot of other stuff. I don’t think I’ll ever be an enthusiastic cross trainer.
Good job on a productive month. The meal issue is a big one for me too – I hate the planning. And that’s probably why we eat the same things over and over again.

I must need to run more because I was only down 1.5% BF. 3% is amazing!
I have 5 by 5 for March (which counts for 13 in 2013) but that’s it so far. Where do you find all of your virtual races?
Natalie says
February was a good month exercise-wise. I have the RnR USA half marathon to focus on.

Seeing your post makes me feel a bit off the hook in my race scheduling. I got trigger happy: March: NYC 1/2, Eggshell Shuffle 1/2. April: Shamrock Shuffle, CARA Lakefront 10 miler, Race for the Life that’s Good 5k. May: Indy Mini 1/2, Cleveland 1/2. June: Chicago Women’s 1/2. I know there are more. Oy. Ran 156 miles in Feb. Seems like a lot! No biking – some spin, pilates, mega former pilates, strength. No yoga. Need more yoga.
Great job on the scale. I have about 3 extra lbs at the moment. I need to stop using all of the miles as an excuse to eat what I want. I know that every bite counts, too!

Great job this February!
Right now we just have one race in March, Around the Bay in Ontario, Canada. We have a few in April though, a 77.7 mile relay, a duathlon and a half marathon (those two are the same weekend). Should be a fun spring!

Nice mileage for the month! Awesome you took your girls to a concert. That’s something they (and you) will remember forever.

3% is a huge deal! way to go! i’d say February did ya good woman!

That was a solid February, nice!!
Nice spring race build-up. I like all the halves you have going on. I’m kinda missing my 300 races in a year plan like last year :). Not really…but I am missing my door handle to my closet empty of any race medals!
I gotta get through July (okay, mid-August) and then you and I are heading somewhere FUN for our 50th. I don’t even care if it’s just a 5k we do!
Kenley says
No races in march just 200+ miles of hard core traing for half in april. yeah logging every single chip is brutal but worth it. take care
